im testing the active light engine with a 3618 chip

hlg320h-c2800b + single clu058-3618 6500k 80cri

wide open test:

cold startup
V 113.3
A 2.88
W 326
PPFD at 12" = 3640 umol

steady state after 5 min
V 113.3
A 2.88
W 326
PPFD at 12" = 3417 umol

temp droop is 6.2% of the cold start up lumen value
based on citi simulator thats a case temp of 59C and looks like

do we have a $200 315CMH killer here or what? this is veg light but obviously can be anything.

also new toy bump. spits out this

View attachment 3792462

but also produces this which should be useful

So thats like 10 umol/watt with reflector, prob like 7ish without at 12 inches. Fast and dirty calculations give around 800 at 2', around 400 at 3'. Thats very good for 200$ and it sure gets me thinking... Hope to see full cycle spectrums soon.

How do you manage the driver side of things. Heard tha this chip take 2 driver inputs or something like that. Not sure though.

Also what heatsink?

This does look very atractive

yeah of course the reflector concentrates it, so id reserve any judgement till we can see one or more of these in a tent

youre probably thinking of the dual-channel CLU550 (last generation). the clu058-3618 is just a 100V chip, so any driver capable of 110+V (i.e almost any constant current driver) will run it. i chose the 320h-c2800b to basically match the top end current (2800ma) with the chip/driver wattage (right at 320 W) , a 240h-c2100b is also a good match for single driver/chip @ ~240W

since this chip is 100V as compared to the 50V clu058-1825, the math is easy, any of the single driver/chip combos above will also run 2 of the 1825 engines

Also what heatsink?
the setup i just described is in every way identical to your light engines. youd have to look hard at the cob to see the difference. same package size chip with an assloa of diodes shoved in there (yours is 18x25=450 diodes, this is 36x18=648)

rocket soul- rest assured that those heatsinks are bulletproof as long as that fan is on, like i said running it out to 320W with case temps below 60C... your chip can do that as well albeit at slightly reduced efficiency

max rating of 1825 = 364W
max rating of 3618 = an astonishing 524W, so im literally running it at "only" 60% at 320W

would be a killer candidate for watercooling

Ok, thanks for all the answers. Need to get my lights thru our kafkaesque customs procedures but if/when all ok we might be shopping for this kinda light, as long as its in a better suited spectrum. Thanks for all the good work

I was asking about the heatsink to see if i can source something here, overseas. I have a feeling that it will be a lot easier to bring over a few chips and optics than those meanlooking lights. Man i wish i would have used UPS instead... These company that does the handling with customs for normal post is worse than useless.

Looking forward to see the spread in 3x3' but more interested in how they do in open space rather than tent.
