Loss of turgor pressure

Just spotted a unique sighting- plant losing turgor pressure during lights on.

I've been torturing my plants the last few weeks with some intense rez issues- have flushed and replaced maybe 4 times in the last 10-12 days, fighting some intense ph/precipitate issues.

The plants have been having issues maintaining pressure the last few days, probably because of some calcification or something on the roots. I'm in high maintenance mode right now trying to fix it, but root zone still looks healthy so hopefully they'll pull through.

I had that happen to a large revegged plant in DWC. It had sat in the same, almost year old nutes for a couple months growing out after the reveg and when I flushed it and gave it a fresh batch of nutes it dried right up. I sprayed the leaves with RO water twice a day for a week or so and it came back. Got a half pound off her for the second time too. :)

glad to see they can bounce back so well!

also forgot to mention, this happened right after i changed the rez- I did a 24 hour flush trying to get rid of the precipitate (it worked finally), and this happened right after I put the nutrient solution back in, so makes sense ultimately! Large shift in the salt content between the solution and the plant.

Got another gif from the day after- plants are mostly stable, the far back one did a little dance that was sorta interesting tho:

EDIT: also did a foliar last night, hopefully that helped hold them over

Hmm, Be sure you always add Si first and stir well. Add and cal source last.
Always stir well between adding any part!

They need food (I know - Cpt Obvious point) Needs Mg too....
Keep res below 68 and Ph control!
I like the gif !!!!

Yea I'm usually really paranoid about mixing things right to avoid any precipitates, but I think the thing that really fucked everything up was there was a week i ended up using both pH up and pH down (and that first solution was calcium heavy)- just turned into a milky nightmare, then it all settled out on the bottom =\

Man if I saw my plants like that. I'd have thought I killed them. Good to see they're bouncing back.
Yea, I was not very happy to see that lol thankfully they bounced back really quick. Got a bit more than an inch of vertical growth yesterday, so they seem to be back on track. This week I gotta get em cloned, trimmed and start flowering- so glad to get back on schedule

Dafuq? An inch in a day!? It's taken me two weeks to get mine to half that.
Is it just a fast strain? Or is that a DWC thing?

I've heard of 2-3 inches a day in DWC before- when things are actually running right it's pretty damn effective, but also really depends on the strains. Wish I caught the stretch on timelapse, but most of it was during lights out.

All the plants have these big fluffy root balls already, so if conditions are right they can grow as much as they want. The 3 hula haze (blueberry x haze) have been growing like a bat out of hell. Think I'm at about 8-9 vertical nodes on those (32 days from seedling now), maybe 3 nodes on a few secondary branches.

The amnesia lemon in the middle just isn't keeping up though. I've had 0 complaints from it at all (probably the most durable), but it's just not growing that fast *shrug*.

The hula haze are realllly starting to stretch now, I think they're asking to start flowering. The nutrient stress might have triggered it to, plus they're on the full strength juice now.

Damn. Once I get my meter pen and a soul grow or two down pat. I think I might look into this dwc stuff.

Is it just veg that they're quick? Or whole cycle?
I know they veg super quick, but I think flowering is about the same. I definitely hear things about bigger yields, but I think it's more about just being able to support a really dense plant during flowering. The plants have a big advantage with DWC by always having nutrients available- the plant doesnt need to focus on root growth as much, and its growth is pretty much just limited by how its handling the nutrient mix (some strains are light feedrs

DWC definitely has its maintenance advantages- things can go bad quick, but they're usually quick to fix too. If a plant is unhappy with rez strength or something, you can get everything reset and tuned in 48 hours. However- gotta do everything by hand =\ No soil to help in buffering ph and nutrients, less beneficial biolife to protect roots (or none if you go sterile), etc.

Great to see your babies recovered Yesdog!

DWC is great stuff and about the easiest and cheapest way to get going in hydro. To get the best performance you have to run everything at close to the redline tho. Lots of light, airflow/CO2 and just the right amount of nutes. I've done side by sides with soilless using clones from the same mother and can always get at least double the yield in the same time frame so what's not to like. :)

Easy to get a half pound or more from a DWC ScroG tho the veg stage goes a lot longer to get the screen 3/4 full before flipping.

Unfortunately it does nothing to shorten flowering time but can get you bigger frostier colas tho.

A real expert in organic growing can get similar yields where IMO DWC has a much lower learning curve. Some experience in growing pot or at least other plants helps a lot.

I'm not so good as a dirt farmer so stick to ProMix with hydro nutes when I grow in pots.

Dirt is all I've ever used. But, this dwc thing looks really interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress of this grow.

Got another week of 'red zone' to get through, but things are definitely looking better! All this bragging about how I fixed my ph "bounce up" and now its dropping. Fear pyth might be starting to show its ugly face

Pythium (or some other root rot)- new rez change, weakened plants, high temps. If it is rot, it's not terrible and should be manageable.

Heh, yea fun DWC lesson for you- sterilize vs not. Basically everyone either runs a sterilize rez (usually chlorine to kill everything) or a live rez (trying to keep bennies alive) as an attempt to keep pathogens away. I'm running a live rez- so im counting on other microbes to keep things clean for me. Downside is- if the good microbes die off (you poisoned them, or they starved) it tends to leave an exposed system.

It might not be pyth tho- the plant itself can 'shed' rootmass the same way it sheds leaves during stress, and the good bennies "cleaning up" can cause the ph to drop too.

Wow. Yeah l think I'll stick to soil for now. I'm still wrapping my head around this lil cabinet of mine. Cheers for all the info. And sorry if I'm thread jacking on you.
