So I'm looking at the light you linked to and it's 800 at the wall I figure, the description says good for 4x4, 5x5. I'm actually trying to decide if it's worth the switch to COB but when I read this I start to wonder if it's a wise move. I'm thinking a 1000 HID would be perfect for the space as well (may be wrong as I know shit about lighting) so I would be saving 200 watts. Also my situation is not too much heat, but not enough for 4 months, I struggle for two keeping temps down, then I shut it down and head outside. I'm thinking I would probably have to actually heat the room if I switched
. It's a tough choice, but my saving grace is I can build a COB unit and cut down on cost.

I can attest to this... I have tried several non COB panels and the only one I found that was worth a shit is my CLW Solar Storm 440. It is the ONLY one of the panels I've tried that I still use.
Yeah. I have 3 of their new SS 550s and they produced 1lb each. So 400 actual watts per LB is pretty awesome when the lights should last about 10 years. But COBs are better.
Yeah, been watching the progression od COBs over the years from almost strictly DIY to a commercially manufactured product, and have been telling myself 'man, when I get some loot saved up....'
Ha. Yeah. I think the LEP thing never turned out. I see them forsale all the time on CL.
Well that's my point, if in need of heat I think I'd rather be lighting at the same time but yup guess I'll find out. I have yet to see a watt for watt grow where the COB crushed the HID for yield but do hear a lot about better trich production.
