Fungus gnats what to do

okay so at first I swore I had a nitrogen deficiency now im pretty sure it's fungus gnats as I can see them flying around . There's not to many of them thankfully. However I just made a terrible mistake. I checked my plants today and saw the yellowing of the leaves at the bottom of te plants had gotten worse after I had just fed them at half strength for the first time. So I watered them again with nutes and it's now probably on the overwatered side so I'm assuming the gnats are going to explode. Should I add hydrogen peroxide asap . I'm going to get the yellow sticky cards tomorrow and try and find Diatomaceous Earth . Thanks

i use Alsystin 250 larvicide, i mix it with water at double the recommended dose to rid termites out of the ground soil too with no ill effects to plants growing in affected area

Wow did not see that pic I thought you were having just that lil tiny plant issue... Alsystin 250 larvicide cool does that hurt the good Nematodes in the soil

Are you sure it's fungus gnats and not winged root aphids? I've had root aphids before and my plants looked like they had deficiencies. Fungus gnats are generally just irritating.

[edit] I'd much rather have fungus gnats than root aphids, they slowly kill the plant and are very hard to get rid off, I had to stop growing for awhile to get rid off everything.

Don't panic especially if it's not a large % of the plant has leaves like that and any bad organism in the soil Nematodes will cure spinosad is easy and safe but unless you are crazy infested I would not use "products" really just amend your dirt and chill on the watering BTW lady bugs love aphids & Garlic aphids hate that shit I grow Garlic outside around my Veggies

A whole plant pic would help. I use Captian Jacks spinosad. Two foliar sprays and twice with watering for systemic.

The best cure for gungus gnats is to back off watering. Let it dry some. A layer of sand or mulch will eliminate fungus gnats. It interrupts their breeding cycle.

Whenever I use new soil, I freeze it in a deep-freeze for a week or two. Kills the gnats, larvae & eggs. If your freezer is too small, divide it into smaller bags then freeze.
I know this wont be of help with your current problem, but for any future grows.

African marigolds (not Spanish) rock, man too, Insects hate them& dont bother them. I grow them with garlic & coriander.

Really hmmm how bout aphids liking them ... I'll read up it's prob in info I have garlic rocks that repels aphids or trys too
fricking aphids love broc and kale OMG and the leaf hoppers kind too fast for lady bugs.. oh hahah I still have 1 lady bug making round in my room and man think maybe got them last in may - sucker lived long

Ive got a separate bin for the worms...in 'treated' soil. I add the worms prior to planting.
My problem came from buying sacks of peat/composts from retail outlets, Always seemed to come from them.
It doesn't seem to affect the fungi & microbes, either. Some places on earth, soil is frozen for months, doesn't make it sterile.

der didn't think of that planet freeze hahaha peat moss worms cool with that, suppose you have a light amount huh.. I avoid peat outside / worms from what I understand can't work it.
I like that U have your worms going that's the way

Just harvested a gallon of casting and made a liquid kelp / sea bird guano / egg shell / casting tea (Gal) and cut with another gal of water and did all my girls tonight happy bitches maybe cost $1 cause of the liquid kelp is not that cheep

Oh, man if I see a gnat flying around my room, my heart drops.... Another thing I discovered, dont spray pyrethrin around them if your grow in under lights. Its photoreceptive to it and frazzles the plants.
I know, it killed an entire crop once....

I live in a seaside town, sometimes go down to beach with a bag & get some seaweed. Dry it & wash it good then add to my compost bin..
Trying to keep is as organic as much as possible & only use chems as a last option.

ooooo salt worms go read protect you worms and keep in touch for sure now I def want to know how the worms are in spring on the gnats last post fly paper no good if in door lady bugs rock did I link you a good/bad bug link they are all over gnat has to have a preditor
