I don't think the 99 is in the constitution here, is it? I can't remember. I'm growing under the rec laws now where I don't even need to grow my max count to overgrow my needs. Whatever counts are in the constitution will be a bitch to change.

Rec growers staying legal do not sell. Licensed growers staying legal do not sell on the street. So your question is flawed.
It's less of a hassle..getting your stuff into dispensary is a pain in the ass.

Why is it absurd? Why limit the amount of cannabis plants I can grow. Do they limit how many tomatoes I can grow, the number of pine or fur trees I can have on my property? I should be able to grow as many fucking plants as I want.
But since you can't..the idea is to grow multi pound plants like @ttystikk does.

For real who the fuck wants 6 trees when you can have 99 small plants that yield the same amount only give you variety and the ability to select some new great clone only? Also if you like to breed like me then yeah 6 plants is not a possibility.
Stay low key is the best way to be I'm not even in a legal state and it works for me. If my state does become legal I'm not going to post pictures on Facebook or Instagram. Probably a huge problem with the legal growers I tried to sign up with Instagram anonymously but it wouldn't let me a bunch of breeders and growers use it anyway though.

Which is bullshit because variety is the true spice of life. I like to grow Roma's, Cherry tomatoes and a few other varieties and I grow more than one plant of each. Same with every plant in my garden. It should only be illegal if you sell it because I can legally make ten barrels of White Lighting to drown myself I just can't sell it.
If you aren't selling, I dont see the problem. They can't smell the difference or tell on a power bill if or what you are growing. Do it your way and move on with life, they ain't coming for you.
