Just another DIY COB build

got the weed whacker out and went to work. under the t5's these were acting like i was over feeding and now they are screaming for more food. I havent upped the food yet. gonna wait and see after a few more days. i think they are just light because of the really fast growth. i think the foliar spray will help a lot as well. getting some good roots in the rock wool croutons. so far so good with the new media. the blackfire are on the right side of the tent and the future is on the left. i sent all the leaves i cut off through the juicer with a cucumber and drank them lol. not as bad as you would think and its supposed to be really good for you.

i just ordered a pack of limited edition Ethos collective Harambe(GG4 x critical skunk x blackfire) i had been waiting on these for a couple months now and they finally dropped a few more packs.

here's the info: The Harambe strain is an extremely potent hybrid from the gardeners at Ethos Genetics which merges three different indica and sativa-dominant strains (Gorilla Glue, Critical Skunk and Black Fire). It was developed as an homage to Harambe and 10% of its proceeds are going to be donated to non-kill animal shelters in Colorado.

the difference in two days is pretty awesome. if you look above you can see the floor of the tent almost everywhere. in this one you can only see it in one or two spots. i hit them with some liquid karma and i bumped up the food by .2 ec. i hope thats all they need but i can give them more if they need it. im super impressed with the light so far. they seem to be getting used to the savagery of the brightness finally. im absolutely loving the structure these plant are taking with the super cropping and the lighting. the beans arrived in three days! excellent service from seeds here now. got two more packs in my shopping cart im waiting to pull the trigger on(i have a problem, i cant stop). i decided to RAISE my light instead of lowering it. i think there is still some sort of adjustments going on. they arent near as perky, they seem kind of droopy but in good overall health. been hitting them with liquid karma for the last couple days to see if they perk up. i still think its the intensity they arent accustomed to. they are still growing like mad though and seem to be happy overall. the stems are getting thick as hell already.

as if christmas couldnt get any better, my wife found my lost knife in the couch! shits looking up!! :) IMG_1364.JPG

i need help dialing these guys in. i think the temps are a bit low which i am working on but doesnt it look as though they are under fed? i was slowly bumping it up and started doing liquid karma foliar but i still havent seen them green up yet. the leaves have stayed droopy but they look ok overall and are still growing pretty fast. i have been raising the lights up to make sure that it isnt the intensity doing it. gonna add a tiny bit of base nutes to my foliar to see if i cant green them up and also start feeding back at 1.5X normal strength.

anyone else here notice they eat a lot more under the LED's??

It's not the case for everyone but for me I doubled and sometimes tripel the cal mag I used before with hps. Mine have demanded it the minute they went under the cobs till harvest. I use Epsom salt and CaMa+ from GH organics because it use to have no N but now it comes 1-0-0. Hope this helps, my first cob run was a bit of a learning curve. We see the plant problems more quickly under the better color rendered lighting and with a faster metabolism they show faster also...

It's strain dependent but I keep my EC around 1.2 - 1.4 but still heavy on the cal/mag but that's in flower. I veg under t5 not cobs but this first week of flower I have had a hard time keeping my girls fed and not lime green. I'm feeling the 1.5 - 1.6 EC now with heavy cal/mag and they are starting to green up even with the excelerated growth in the first few weeks of flower. I have never added to much mag since running cobs, maybe try foliar since your still in veg...

i slowed the flow of air through the tent so its staying warmer in there and i raised the light up some more and when i got home from work they were perky and standing up for the light. im not sure if it was the temps, the intensity or both but they look better already. upped the strength of the foliar by a little and they should green up in a week or so. i need to start ordering my flowering COB array soon but im waiting on my SOG table to finish in a few weeks. those things are looking great and packing on the weight like a sad woman at hometown buffet. COBs are kicking some ass! love the structure these are creating. gonna have a ton of cuts in a month. the plan is to make a shit ton of cuts to do a proper SOG at 4 per sqft with NO VEG TIME. just gonna let them root into the cube so they dont stall then flip. they may get started under the 1k HPS while i build my LED array but they will get 50+ days of flowering under the COBs if my timing is right. it looks as though i have 1-2 phenotypes per strain and there's two similar strains going. hopefully i wont run into any compatibility issues on the table with the two different strains lol.

im looking into building array frames out of 1/8" aluminum sheet. each one will hold 8 cobs and cover a 2x4 section of the 4x8 table area. each one is coming in at just under $40 so about $160+shipping to build the frame for the whole table. i will simply mark out the COB/heat sink placement and drill 2.5" holes for the cob holder to sit in. this will essentially turn the entire frame into part of the heat sink. if the 1/8" is too flexible i will reinforce with angle aluminum.

I am noticing this lime green also under cobs. Everything is growing like crazy, praying leaves and all but still have this lime green going. It would be hard to believe that I am underfeeding them. I have them in 5 gallon buckets of 1/2 miracle grow potting soil and 1/2 Green thumb garden soil. I've fed them at 300 ppm 3-1-2npk every single time they have been watered if anything you would think I was overfeeding them dumping nutrients on soil that is known to be rich. And yet they are the exact same lime green as both of you are exhibiting. Other than that there have been zero signs of deficiency and vigorous growth.

ive been slowly ramping up the feed schedule and still they are light lol. the growth is explosive and they are finally reaching up for the light again. i upped the foliar strength a little more and will continue to do so until i have lush dark green leaves again. im sitting at 1.7ec of base and .3ec of mag at the moment. i wont go any higher than that lol. I'll be watching you to see how your plants react. I'm reluctant to up nutrients as I ran into a wall at 450 ppm, they got dark green and the claw, the only difference being the light. It was a t8 fixture running mixed bulbs @48w sqft. Don't laugh it grows amazing looking plants for veging.

I'm reluctant to give you advice but I am betting that your drooping is due to overwatering when small, I thinks it's almost unavoidable. Mine looked exactly the same as yours right after a watering. Yours already looks better now that they are bigger and I'll bet when they get just a tad bigger they are going to perk right up. Mine sure did.

could be waterlogged rock wool like you said. those pots are heavy as hell after a watering lol. i think now that they have a bigger and stronger root system it hasnt seemed to be affecting them as much.

my quattro kush showed up this morning. if you guys havent checked out seeds here now do yourself a favor and do so. if you are in western US you will get your shit in two to three days. they ship usps 2 day priority with tracking. they dont usually give out freebies(only if certain breeders offer them with your purchase) which i think is cool. i have NEVER EVER gotten any freebie worth a damn and they are always more of a distraction and hassle than anything. the last freebie i got took up valuable space and sucked compared to my chem d cookies and i wish more than anything i would have just had one more cdc. then it haunts me from the grave, i thought i killed it off but i mislabeled some clones and the shit freebie made it back into my garden again!!!! lol.

got one more pack showing up on monday and then i swear im done ordering beans for a while! she who must not be named might find out and i will be in trouble :)

my goal is to get some finished pictures up on ethos's FB page, then i know ive made it lol.

Yes you are right with the freebies, I gave them to my friend to do with them as he pleases :D Usually all autos and I do not grow them. Man you got bushes in there like I've never seen I love COBs! I'm in a process of building my own fixture with 600W dimmable driver dimmed to 450W and with 6 Citizen 1825 in 3000K for flower. What an inspiration here, keep it up!
