Sugar

I heard of people that use sugar water to water their plants during flower to increase weight, taste, and trichomes . What ratio of water to sugar do you use?

The ONLY time I ad complex carbs like sugar. Are in combination with Mg sulfate or K sulfate.....
There are carbs in most finishing supplements containing those elements!
I make versions of my own things like Sweet Raw (Mg sulfate) and Resinator (K sulfate) and add 1.5 tsp per gallon of DARK BROWN SUGAR for the carb source....

That would be about the limit I would use...I'm not a big fan of molasses alone in supplementing too! The carbs are for boosting or feeding the micro heard in soils to get better up-take of available or applied nutrients....That's the reason I add carbs to those formula's.

Could you add brown sugar to the heard (how much per L?) or is molasses the only real option for it.

Sure, you could. The given amount with no Mg or K sulfate would be what I would call the limit.....You might try a single tsp.....You get soils too much sugars, and they ferment. The plant now has to deal with alcohols and the o2 gets used up in soil. This causes anaerobic conditions and kills the plant.

Care should always be used when adding carbs to soils.

So could you not just add a small amount of brown sugar/epsom/myko for a little turbo mix?, would sulfur be ok on them?. If in small enough doses (aside from myko) could one feed it in small liquid volume amounts the day prior to a normal fertilizer feed ( that in turn may also wash out any excess sugar fro mthe day before).

I used sugar on my last years crop

got into the shit bigtime from my clients

it left a smell of dried molasses, from the brown sugar I used

I later used honey with better results

I was motivated from this link/if still alive? https://qaafi.uq.edu.au/apical-dominance-maintained-by-sugar-limitation NOPE!

( I have a copy sumplace will hunt it out)

at all times avoid spraying the buds, aim for the fan leaves

good luck

There is a debate by some cannabis growers that S (sulfur) should be considered a MACRO nutrient..... I tend to agree for the most part. You can overdo it but, you have to pile it on kinda hard. K is under rated and under utilized for cannabis in my eye's. RM3 preaches from the same book as I, on that.

I sort of think your attempting to over think some of this.....Anyway, The amounts of sugar I use in the Mg and K sulfate formula's are delivered by now more then 20 ml from the gallon of concentrate you make, at a time. To a gallon of nutrient mix ... So sugar or carb amounts are lower then most think. That is quite enough to support bio health....

@vostok

I'm familiar with V's idea. Not really a fan of it in practice..... Feed the soil (bio's) and the soil feeds the plant,,,is more my goal.....
It's what works for me. Before you ask,,I'm not a fan of Honey in nutrient solutions...It's the antibiotic ability of Honey that puts me off. I'm told by some that it still works ok. But, I still have my "druthers".

Another thing to consider is. Most carbs are given in nutrient solutions by the nutrient companies. So root system bound they are.. I must say too, "I" have not tried any foliar applications of carbs.....just rubs me wrong. yeah I'm old but, it's that "druthers" thing again.

Many folks find differing ways to get to the same place. They all work and have become familiar with the "hazards" along the way for each. Some shorter, some longer. If your reaching the goal and not "loosing" anything along the way....Then it works...

K is like the numero uno nutrient on most bottles of ferts, you can say its under utilized but its still the highest nutrient number on most bottles...

Many bottles maybe!
The point I'm making is that what they use - is still not enough! Too much focus on P and too early! Just because it's listed as the highest number on the bottle. Doesn't mean they have enough!

It's under utilized!
