fact is they are not interested in any but the fine colas, prolly because its the way I introduced them. I dont grow those bottoms
for several reason right^^ I dont have dexterity, time or patients to fuss with trimming these buds, looking for dirt chunks washing them better, if needed I've applied oil to my dirt surface with a spray nozzle for instance, now I have no worries of overspray and such.
it hurts to discard them I know, so not allowing them to grow was an easy habit for me to adapt. I didnt invent it of course, but it fits well with my styles. I love the ease in care of a four/6 cola gal all proud and tall, easy peasy trim, easy care and support, maximum light exposure, increased air flow and visibility in the substrate areas, maximum results for me. Some people save their sugar leaves I know, you guessed it, I throw them to my bunnies. I've got plenty of superior buds and their droppings to do whatever I need to do, without the extra fuss and weight sitting around.
I liken it to a scrog grower, maximizing their light exposure, lolli popping their lower shrubbery, and growing colas only. same deal here really, without the netting and fuss training/long veg. sometimes I need some sticks and rope to support others not so much.
when lazy I even trim up the untrained ones and let them flower like a bush up top its a great feel in the garden.
I could go on and on, but alas, its just a garden habit, a personal one among many differing surely, we all have them, they often differ from the next I find. Its the most "right" way for me, after trying many techniques, this one fits here. Some growers are limited in space, mobility, knowledge, tools, equipment etc, naturally forcing them to adapt to what works best for them.
I'm betting you have some strange & differing habits too, in and outside of the garden......
