The thread is 9 nine years old wouldn't you think if there was any validity to it, it'd be common knowledge by now?
Plants need to be 2ft tall for the stink to be strong enough? What percentage of plants have shown sex by that age? Most of the plants I've grown have shown sex in 4-6 weeks from seed.
You need two plants to compare to each other. What if you pick two plants of the same sex? Do you have to wait for the sex to be known for each strain before the stem rubbing begins to familiarize yourself with the different smells?
Males smell aggressive females smell sweeter and prettier? Sounds scientific as fuck. Males become much less aggressive the more you stroke their stem.
Generally when someone can't explain how or why something works with even a pinch of actual biology their posts start like this. This isn't for amateurs, you have to know when and how to do it, or the popular I heard threads. All of them are euphemism's for I don't have a fuckin clue but I'll say it anyway.
If you've never seen a cannabis plant or even heard the word you'd have a 50 /50 shot of guessing sex. Couple that with letting them grow two feet tall most strains would be showing preflowers by that time. Even without preflowers most plants have distinct male/female characteristics. Male's grow taller, faster, lankier, and with less leaves. There's a reason for it, being a wind pollinated dioecious plant it aids in their reproduction.
What's the need for male and female plants to smell different? What do hermies smell like, a mix of old spice, crocs, with a touch of doc martens.
