Best time of year to bass fish in the NE imo, caught a 6 lb LM last week and usually do every year from the end of april-may, prespawn and bed fishing, love it! Also I read an article last year that the big females will literally hold up up on sunfish bedding areas waiting for an opportunity, this is a good thing to know.Solid bass there, nice!
I'm a bass fanatic. I love to fish and 95% of my time fishing is spent fishing for bucket mouths. Got home late getting ready to snag less than 3 hours just so I can be on one of the ponds I fish at daybreak. I'm overdue for a big haul...one of those 50 plus hauls. It's been very poor fishing this Spring. We've had tons of rain. We had 12.5 inches in 3 days just a couple of weeks ago. My favorite and most productive pond gets field run off so naturally it was brown. Could barely see an inch below the surface. I'm hoping she's cleared up. It is an absolute gem of a pond. My dick is getting hard just thinking about it lol. April - May is the best time as well here in the Midwest. Although late September and first half of October can be some crazy good fishing.

I've been fishing for bass for 33 years this year. I've logged in a lot of time working bass. The biggest I've landed is 8 and my goal is a 10 plus. Those are very rare around these parts. I've got a lot of 8s, 7s, 6s, etc. But not a 9 or 10. I'd probably have to mount a 9 if I landed one. And I've had some bass on my line over the years that were that kind of size. Pond I'm hitting in the morning is where I have the biggest one ever on my line. Purple worm rigged up Texas style bouncing off the bottom. He was a beast and I set the hook then went to working the drag scared to death the line would snap at any moment. After about a 10 second fight that line snapped. I was trying to keep tension plus adjust the drag on the top side of my open face and didn't get it done in time. Such is fishing lol. I fucking love fishing and I love the challenge.

A crappie I caught out of it fishing for bass about 4 days ago. You can see how murky the water is.

I have never had a partner. If I get burnt then I get burnt. I'm having fun with it and I do trust the young man. Have gotten to know him very well and he's a genuine hearted and fair man. My kind of guy. But sure anything can happen. I will still have my private grow so either way I'll be all right but I could be all kinds of all right lol.
I never got burnt, just fist ta cuffs like larry said partner always wanted to cut early or not do his part

The bad part is if someone does
The bad part is if someone does happen across it and takes it then the 2 partners are left wondering if the other one fucked him. But considering the sheer nastiness of getting into the garden area I'm not worried about anyone finding it. We will hit it a couple of times a week probably with no pattern. Take turns driving and tending. Drop off at night with mask on and get it done. I was very leery about growing somewhere other than the area I grow but after looking it over I'm much more at ease.
get your self a few cams out there not on the plants just general area u will no if someone poking around, saved my ass few times, with that many be well worth it

Yea 5-6 lbs seems to be where they top out here, they get bigger but like u said rare. 8lbs a goal for me, just cant seem to get past that 6lb mark. Mid late sept caught good ones as well, just usually preoccupied with other thing that time of year. Also for some reason the first weeks of July have been good, postspawn appetite i guess. Try fishing great lakes tribs for spawning smallmouth out my way, you will have never had so much fun

I'm not much of a fisherman but I took my son out last month to catch his first fish. The crappie were biting like crazy all through April and the first half of may. They love those little jigs on a bobber.
My wife's cousin would catch 20 or 30 every morning. I managed to get 7 myself in a couple hours..not too bad for an amateur even though crappie are easy pickings lol

Crappie is my favorite to eat. Unfortunately I don't have any good ponds to fish for crappie. Growing up I did. My dad and I would go and catch around 100 in a couple of hours. We knew the spots where they schooled up at and would reel them in one after another. Green or white jigs worked the best.

Caught 20 in a couple hrs. Had an absolute hog on my line. Took a good while to get him reeled in got him about 4 ft from the boat and reached for my dip net and the bastard got loose. Wishing I had a fishing partner today lol.

Gonna make a nice fish fry MG. Wish I'd have been there to scoop up that big one. Sure brings back memories of living in Ok. when I was young. We would troll through schools of sand bass at Lake of the Woods with white abu spinners and literally catch hundreds at a time. Oregon has fair bass fishing my biggest Largemouth from Hagg lake has been 7.5lbs. The state record for smallmouth came from Hagg at 8lb 12oz. I miss the crappie fishing more than anything, have to drive clear over to the Snake river to really get into them good. These are real close to crappie eating quality, hour drove to the coast for some Pink Fin perch..Pink fin perch.jpg

They get hunted a lot? Theres heavy hunting pressure around here they move out with consistant activity... for me atleast
They do get hunted, but not all the time. Lots of my kin {who's land I grow on} live in south Florida, and only come up 3 -4 times during hunting season. There is a lot more land here than people.

Nice haul. I don't go fishing very often anymore. I did wet a line a few weeks back when I was hiking. It's been a very dry Spring here and my 5 acre pond is about an acre now. Birds are hauling off the fish like crazy.

Eight pounds is the biggest bass I caught on a hook. Did catch a 10 pounder on a gig one time. My pond has been stocked 4 times in my life. Which means it has gone dry four times in my life. I'm hoping the rain will start soon enough to save some of the fish in it now. It has bass, bream and catfish that I know of. I'm sure there is a few other kinds in there as well.

Had a rough start. Put out a bunch of strains from @northeastmarco in main spot. I believe it was 49. Then after a week or so I lost 23 in one day. Pretty much everything 5 inches or smaller got bit off an inch or so from the ground. Wasn't eaten on either. Plugged some more in a few holes and immediately lost them. I dont have the available time that I had last year. But I did plug a few more in and put chicken wire around them and so far so good. The next day I lost well over 100 that were in solo cups in tall totes. Same fucking thing as the patch. Bitten off just above the soil. These were a combination of R2, R2P, poison warp, and Church X pw. I still had 29 I believe of a combination of those 4. Had a corn field I had been eyeballing. Going by the near non existence of any weeds and the corn at about 12 inches tall I assumed the weed prevention was done when it was tilled for planting. So I plugged them in and about 5 days later I went on an evening check and noticed fresh tire marks in the field. Sure enough the corn was roundup ready and they had just hit the field with Roundup. Lost all of those. I've got a handful of plants left and have a few more starts going. All females in the pix.

Not to impressed with my garden so far this year. I've been tied up with a lot of other things. Lot of irons in the fire.
