How many seeds on a plant is too many seeds for maturing?

I've read concerns in these groups from people who accidentally got pollen on their plant, and believed the seeds that formed had ruined their hard work to make strong buds.

I personally remember the seed ridden pot from the 70s, so that concern seemed a little unjustified to me. Here's how many trichomes there are on an AK47 bud with seeds, attached to a plant which is estimated to be carrying 200 more. And when it's dried, it's perhaps about half as strong as the best I got from another AK47. That's strong enough, considering you can get S1 seeds too.

There's enough trichomes on there that a fungus gnat has become stuck. See the red circle in the attached foto.

Yuck. I didn't realize that fungus gnats can get stuck. I tried to gently push him off with the point of a toothpick, but he seemed to be hypnotized or something.

Think about that the next time you smoke weed. No one's going to have the patience to remove the gnats that got stuck to your buds.
That's why all my friends who grow rinse their buds after harvesting.

I'll test that theory out. I found another fungus gnat stuck to a bud. Seems to be the lower buds, which makes sense as they hover around the soil.

When does he rinse? When picked, or after dried?

And unless he looks carefully, I'm just going to rinse as if I didn't know the little guy was there.

I rinse right after chop with cool water when I do rinse. Gnats give that rotting meat dankness, right?

Here's the resulting 1190 seeds from that White Widow, cross bred with a Super Skunk. I've got 6 of these seeds growing at a friends house, outdoors.

Of the dark brown seeds seen here, 7 out of 7 I tested sprouted in about 3-5 days.

Of the seeds from this batch that were still green, only 1 of 10 sprouted. I haven't tried the lighter brown ones. But I guess I have about 1/3 unviable seeds in this lot.

Not sure if I could have done anything better, to make them all viable. But perhaps White Widow is too big for a single E26/E27 grow light? Blueberry autoflower certainly doesn't like a single light.

I used a 36W LEVIN brand. There's a good deal on those on Amazon if you look around. I bought 10 of them for $11 each, yesterday.

My engineering friends in Taipei tell me, expect grow lights to fall in price soon, as China figures out growing marijuana in California is big business. You can get put to death for having drugs there, but no one minds making a buck off them.

I had a verylight brown little og bag seed once that I gave to a bubby of mine, it germed and grew to be a nice og kush plant that was a miniature for like the first month of its like then after that it grew into a strong dank ass plant, so there may be some more life in those than the light green littles.

God, I hope not! Hadn't even thought about them until now.

Here's the results of the water rinse gnat removal technique. I might try it again later with a strong fine spray from a large misting bottle, but you have to figure that if the stream is strong enough to remove the gnat, some trichomes are going to be broken off too.

I think we all have to face it. We smoke gnats.

I dunk them in buckets or run water under faucet or with hose, all gently with no trouble. Understand that these plants are made to get rained on and still keep their pest fighting ability.

Made a milk drink with like half a gram of weed in... She forgot the rule, always only drink half and see what happens.

She doesn't smoke weed. Neither of us drinks.

All's well that ends well, she woke up in the evening, I brought in the washing and had munchies ready when she came to.
Lol, she enjoyed the munchies, I had everything from savoury to chocolate.

Next step is 'Back-Crossing'

that will rock ya socks

I don't mess with tiny, or green, or pale, or grey seeds

although 800 seeds does arouse me

just damping pollen on the 2 lower branches, flowers should offer you more than enough

that said 800 seeds from ur F1/S1 will prevent any genetic issue later

great find ..good luck

IMO: wrong..

I'm big on the water cure

as in soaking ur fresh harvested buds in tepid water, for 4 days

as you know thru the hash making with ice

trics are very fragile, they easy wash of in cold water

washing weed under cold water does remove many tric glands

defeating your purpose

neem oil will put an end to bugs in your grow

so whats wrong with a little protien in ue joint

good luck

Nothing against water cure if I don't do it as I like flowers mostly and the more skunky the better. Rinsing don't hurt and water curing proves it. Pulled my river plants before right after big storms outside.....frosty! Cool not cold water.

Yea, I finally figured that out. I was worried I'd be lucky to get 50 seeds on that White Widow. Now I know better.

Last plant I pollinated was a blueberry. Buds were just starting, only 1/3 inch of pistils.

I pollinated it like that. Hopefully it'll grow very big buds with seeds only at the very top, and hopefully the seeds will finish just as the buds are the correct ripeness.
