Hi.
Im using a new (cheap) carbon filter fan.. black orchid 4 inch
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01N3C7R4E/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1496257848&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=black+orchid+fan
And wow is it loud ! So i done a bit of research of how to make it not sound like a jet is taking off in the room, but i didnt have the materials or money after buying a new fan so i had to put it in a cardboard box, the box was then placed in a larger box and i used memory foam clippings to fill in the gaps between both boxes..... reduced sound by 50%
But being in 2 boxes and padding could end up as a fire hazard, .... so do carbon filter fans get hot/cut out ? And if you have any alternative methods to reduce sound please feel free to leave your 2p's worth.
