Any good recipes for arthritis cream?

I have searched and found some information and ideas, but they were all several years old. Are there any proven ways to make a topical cream that will work for arthritis? Both my mother and father suffer from arthritis and joint pain so of course I would love to help them out.

Hiya BGT, Canna Coco butter is what you are wanting.
For single strength I heat 100g of waste sugar trim schwag (already used to dry sift hash from) in 500g of coconut oil/butter (this will actually soak up most of the oil so is the absolute maximum for this size batch) with a few drops of water to indicate temperature. Heating slowly for around 20-30 mins simmering just below 100 c as indicated by the drops of water bubbling noisily if too hot. Then I add around a litre (2 pints) of boiling water then simmer for 2-20 hours depending on material quality, then strain thru a tea cloth or cheese cloth in a large funnel (I have a professional oil press for this but a cloth works 90% as well) carefully wringing out as much of the bound up liquid as possible because the weed holds onto the coco oils and gives up the water readily so pay particular care to wringing out the last drops from your batch. The end result will be a jug half filled with nasty smelling brown water and dark green oil floating on top, simply place the jug in the fridge for an hour or so and the coco butter will set to a wax and can easily be separated from the water which can then be discarded. There will be a little pastey emulsion on the underside, this is best scraped off (and eaten! :) ) as it will make the pure oil harder to store long term.
This 'first wash' can be used as is, simply rubbed in topically directly to the inflamed bones for immediate (if short lived) relief of pain and long term reduction in swelling and pain and 250mg under the tong at night to aid sleep and act directly through the blood to further reduce inflammation. For chronic arthritis I will run the same 1 x strength back through successive additional batches of schwag to increase its potency (I prefer a 3 x) and lower the overall amount of fat needing to be rubbed in to provide needed dose as the 1 x can get messy if you need to keep applying it. The results are literally miraculous and more or less instantaneous and of course topical application ( rubbed into the skin) has no psychoactive effect and cannot interfere with any other medication however a word of caution for elderly patients who use Warferine or other blood thinners should NOT injest it orally, Warferine like drugs are the only major contraindication for drug interactions.

Well, I just made up a batch of cream using the above recipe. I put 22 grams of Animal Cookie buds (not trim, but actual bud) in about 15 oz of coconut oil. I had to guess on how much bud to use. The concoction is cooling in the fridge right now and I'll drain out the water later tonight or tomorrow morning. Do you think this will be a good dose or should I have used more or less buds?

Nice, ok well 22g @ lets say 15% resin content would be somewhere around 4 or 5 times the strength of the used schwag i use @ 1-3% (max) resin content (so more or less equivalent to 100g of schwag), so you should be spot on the 1 x strength single wash i make so i'm guessing the solidified butter will be a mid green colour and should dose at around 1/4 teaspoon for ingestion and be about perfect strength for relieving arthritis etc rubbed on topically. Let me know how it comes out.

Best thing I found was from a local company, it is a spray that is based on rosemary. You might want to infuse some if you are making an ointment.
I'm doing an alcohol extraction on rosemary, the bottle must be like 4 years old now, and most of the good stuff in the alcohol. Just rub some on (not on sensitive skin though).

Good point ANC, if anybody knows any good long lasting flower remedies, they will add a bit of persistence to this recipe which does tend to need re-applying a little too often, just re-heat the oil till it melts and mix thoroughly, remembering to mark the containers with which infusion at what strength for reference and adjustment of mix.

You are spot on with the color of the canna coco I made. My parents are in town visiting and say they feel it does help with the pain. I am wishing I would have used more bud when I made it now -- next time I will use around 1.5 - 2 oz and maybe some rosemary from my garden, too.

Do they need to refrigerate this stuff?

It's best stored in the fridge but is unlikely to spoil if out for a day or two if kept in a cool dark place. You can always rewash a batch if first wash is not strong enough too.

Here is an effective salve recipe made with fan leaves and coconut oil.

Simple Canna Salve

Ingredients:
43oz organic coconut oil (Coconut oil has excellent skin penetration to deliver
the hempy goodness where you need it.)
3 oz dried fan leaves

How to make it:
Add the coconut oil to a rice cooker or slow cooker let it melt.
Roll the leaves into a log shape and rough chop the fan leaves into strips, and
then add to the melted coconut oil in the cooker
Let it steep for an hour or 4 stirring occasionally.
When done, remove/strain the vegetable matter with a clean cotton cloth or
cheese cloth pour it into a tub (If you want to add a scent to the salve you can stir it in
now.) and let cool.

All measurements are approx, as well as the steep time. I usually use a rice
cooker because if I happen to forget to keep an eye on it, it won’t burn.

How to use it:
We have used this salve with great success on just about anything you can think
of. Just rub it on.
Reduce swelling
Reduce pain
Promotes healing
Both Cannabis and Coconut oil are mild anti-bacterials
Any kind of skin abrasion
Bug Bites
Skin Conditions
Arthritis
Diaper rash
Muscle soreness

You (and your pets) can also eat it for a nice mellow pain relief without the high. Start with ½
tsp.
Don’t waste those fan leaves!

Just checking in to say the reports coming in from @freeman Jack's recipe are very positive. My parents are using it multiple times per day since they both have chronic medical issues that cause them pain. Neither have ever been regular cannabis users and claim the topical cream works quickly and lasts for a few hours per application.

Now if I can just get them to consume some nightly...

CG, thanks for your recipe too. I'd love to not let the fan leaves go to waste. Do the leaves need to be dried? I would like to just freeze them as I defoliate then throw them in the crockpot with the coco once I have a enough leaves.

Awesome!! real happy bout them getting hours of relief, often it can be as short as 20 mins between reapplications so that is great news. Yeah, freeze those fresh fan leaves (best only select the green healthy ones as the dying leaves will have mould spores etc) fresh fan leaves will also have a slight bias towards THC-A which is known to be a powerful anti inflammatory. Sadly mine are needed to feed my worms coz i run fully bio-energetic (no-till no pesticide no fertilisers) but damn I got the happiest worms!

i have used this method for myself,,,,,,35gr of buds in 400gr of coconut oil,,,,and then i found out that 10-12 drops of arnica essentiel oil in 1 ounce of coconut oil
was relieving me,, more quickly and for longer time,,,i am 65 and i always look for simplicity,,,,,i heard that not everybody is getting along with arnica,, i do very well and
it is cheaper ,,,keeping the canna-coco gel for the hard side of my conditions,,,,and it is getting better, and better,,,cannabis is a wonder of the earth,,,,,maybe if you learn how make your parents eat it,you are not only giving them relief but maybe,,,get better and better,,,good luck,,good works,,keep on

Sorry for the delay in responding.
I let the leaves get bone dry so there is a minimal amount of water in the salve. The water doesn't hurt the final product it's just a personal preference.

Hello I’m trying to do this for my mom who has chronic pain in her knees. So this won’t make her high at all? My mom is a bit grumpy so even if it did it would improve her personality greatly. Lol. I just want her to walk as best she can because she refuses knee surgery. I guess I would want the 3x batch as well. My mom has bowed legs which start at her knees and is pretty bad but she is stubborn at 73 and refuses surgery. So I have to find some way to make this recipe for her. Thanks

The use of remedies for arthritis in self-medication for more than 3-5 days is unacceptable. Only a doctor, taking into account the indications and contraindications, can prescribe a particular drug. My friend, who now lives far away from me, recommended bladderwrack. I took this seaweed, ground it up, and got something in the form of an ointment, I applied it to my feet, and the next day the pain was significantly reduced. Apart from the traditional arthritis remedies, there are other kinds of drugs that you cannot buy in pharmacies. We are talking about the modern treatment of severe arthritis, which is treated for life. These are the basal drugs, cytostatics, complex agents, and immunosuppressants commonly used in rheumatology.
