facts can be inconvenient, I agree.
The constitution, specifically article 2, gives the president unlimited authority to issue pardons for crimes committed against the united states. Feel free to look it up.
It doesn't even say he can't pardon himself, and there is a lot of controversy over whether he can. But, that would take years to resolve, and in the meantime he would be free and couldn't be prosecuted.
But maybe new york will indict him? Nope, there are precedents that suggest a case wouldn't be allowed to proceed while he was in office. Because while I would love to see this president dragged before a state court, I would loathe it if some texas da indicted a president I liked on some made up charges and dragged them into court, possibly over and over. The Scotus would probably rule the case would have to wait until he was out of office. And, it's entirely possible the gov of new york could pardon him.
So logic be damned. He is immune from prosecution, at least while he is in office. He is above the law. And he can bring his family above it as well. You bought him, you own him.
