Is that basil? Using it as some sort of cover crop to keep the medium from drying? Or just killing two birds with one stone (or pot lol)And Mama's really healthy, BTW...

Oh wow!! A Couple years ago i posted somewhere here suggesting/theorizing attempting to root a cutting while still on the plant by putting a rooting plug around the stem and taping it there so no lights touching the stem, and keeping it moist, assumably it would attempt to root. Kinda the same way when you bury a long stretched stem it starts to form roots. Until now i never heard of air layering. Idk why i never gave it a shot. Was a neat thought but i guess i got used to regular cloning.Hey man I made a thread similar to this, same issues. I tried air layering. It worked mostly but then along the way it somehow died. Nevertheless I did it, but in the mean time I got good advice similar to yours.
Basically I was told to add warmth (heat mat or warm window sill) only sprayed the dome not the actual plants, and I used root riot cubes and gave up with Rockwool. I sprayed the cubes I didn't pour water over them in case I washed away the rooting gel and powder
I clone under a dome, depending on the strain it's anywhere from 5-14 days, GG4 being the fastest to WIFI which seems to take forever.
Over thinking it.
I literally cut clones with an unsterile blade and put straight into soil with no dome. If they need a dome I will add one. Most don't unless its really dry where you are.
How often did you change the water? Damn good results there! My wife met me at one of my grows recently....long story short...I was topping and she literally picked up a cut stuck it into a jug of water on my patio and it rooted LOL.....GG4...roots showed at about 9 days....it's been in soil for 3 or 4 days now and looks great ....I stuck a KK cut and a BK cut In some water about a week ago....both look fine and are just in jugs of hose water on my patio.....I still can't believe this shit ....I don't need these plants at all ...but the experiment has been fun ....KISS method wins again I guess.

LOL....
I know this wasn't asked of me, but I change mine every few days. When changing, I do a quick bleach spray and scrub the tub before filling back up. Gets rid of the slime. I used to have a near perfect record with clones when I grew 10 years ago. These were the only ones that looked like shit. Outta practice I guess . My new clones look healthy. Even some of the shitty ones have new growth and lots of roots. I tossed the ones that were struggling. How often did you change the water? Damn good results there!
