Why add more lights?

well i got 6 cfl's above this plant and 6 around it with 1100 lumens, the only way i can think why more lights is beneficial to the plant is, down to the plant getting those 1100 lumens in places where it wouldn't get them normaly, like under a fan leaf, if the lights are placed arround it evenly, i don't think my lumens are enough to flower mine and get good results but its what ive got, so we will see how it goes

I know what you mean, like... The lights cover different parts of the plant, that's what i've got going too... but when people tell me that the lumens don't add up... I don't get it -_-

yea like they dont add up in the sense of how many lumens you bulbs letting out, its what eva is on the side of your bulb box, but if placed in shaded areas you are making the best of em, my plants got em coming from all directions

try it yourself - take a couple of flashlights and shine them all in one spot. it will be brighter than a single light. how do you think led's work?

baz, dude, this is something you can see for yourself. just turn on one of your cfl;s. then another, then another. any single spot will get brighter. you don;t have to read the forum to test this.

Seriously... Think about it.

1 - 13watt CFL gives off 850 Lumens.

Put 2... and you have 2 bulbs... BOTH projecting 850 Lumens each, unless someone can explain to me how... the bulb just automatically stops giving off lumens.

The lumen can be thought of casually as a measure of the total "amount" of visible light in some defined beam or angle, or emitted from some source. - Wikipedia.

Hence... 2 850Lumen bulbs projecting in one angle... = somewhere around 1700.... NOT 1700... Almost.

Yea, i know what ur saying as i have 2x6 socket power strips on two different timers and 1 of em always goes off a few mins before the other and the room does get darker, spose its all about using the lumens right and bouncing em the best you can, oh i looked into lsting but aint brave enough to try it on my first plant, witn it being a bit stretched, but will def use this with my new plants as i can afford to make a mistake or two, as i need the room :) i threw the two smallest in the big room on veg, they got 1 cfl above each of em real close, if you look in my previous pic you can just see em. Cant wait till there all in flowering mode as this will make my life alot easier, and give my missus her kitchen back :)
