Trichs and direct sunlight

Hiya
Something ive noticed on my outdoor autos is that there is more visible resin during really sunny days; when the clouds move in for a few days all the frostiness seems to receed.
Is this the plants natural response to changing environment? I read that resins main function is to protect the plant from sunshine, this would back up my observation. However i also read that resins main job is to attract pollen; in this case resin production should happen regardless of conditions.
Any thoughts peeps?
Cheers!

Auto's are not intended to be grown outdoors.
You should have used regular seeds

Auto's Have been grown outdoors in Canada and Alaska since the beginning of time. you can google that dude. You honestly think a cave man grew inside of his cave by light of fire or something? Nah... he grew outdoors.
You can grow them anywhere you want, and in the lands of the Midnight Sun, they probably are good, that doesn't mean it will be optimal.
Auto simply don't need a light cycle to bloom, which means to me it is a lazy man's plant.
Go ahead, plant an auto outdoors and compare that plant to a regular seed.
Big difference in harvest size, and that's a fact.

Very well put. I cant argue with any of that. Im really not a fan of auto's. I like to be in full control of my ladies.

Yep, I got that...I guess like everyone else who grows autos I had my reasons, no 1 being a quick harvest. Its a guerilla jobby and Im just finding my feet with the site. Also im only keeping myself in smoke (and im a very light smoker) so im not really interested in monster plants producing kilo upon kilo of 28% thc brain melting stuff. 8 or 9 autos, hopefully get an Oz from each and im good for the year stashwise, 100 day harvest, easier maintenance of smaller plants, etc... They make sense for my needs, which as i explained are pretty minimal!
I am also growing a Dinafem Bubba Kush CBD regular fem and yes, you can clearly see the superior genetics, its a beautiful plant...
Cheers

Yep, the way auto's were designed, they sound like a perfect match for you. The way I smoke I would burn an auto in a month (lol)
Stay stoned, prosper, and be happy, my friend :)

Trichomes are still there. Use some magnification and look closely, you'll see the little sweethearts. Just easier to see the reflections of full sunlight on the trichomes. At least, that's how it works for me.

I'm way up north where regular plants never even get half way thru flowering before frost hits. While there is no doubt yields will be much smaller than a regualr plant grown in optimal climates today's autos rival a lot of good strains in quality and yield relative to size.

I'd rather harvest an oz or two per auto plant than a few pea-sized frozen buds.

Don't some people talk shit.

U can grow autos I your grandmas crusty knickers so why can't u outdoors ?
He'll may not be the best outdoor yield compared to i door but you can still grow it ...your post made little sense to an experienced outdoor grower here imagine the damage done to a newb who read that

I guess in your circumstance they are the best choice, but if it was me in your situation, I would focus on an indoor grow.
Why not?

That's what I've been doing up there for the last 16 years but it would be nice to use some of my 7.5 acres to stock up with free light in the summer.

At least start em indoors.
I've put 3 month old, 4ft tall plants out in early June and they still won't flower out in time without being able to keep them dark for 12 hours/day. May build a 10x10 shed/greenhouse to do just that but wish I didn't have to.
