No offense intended here, but that stuff is just Ebay/Amazon style garbage. If you went out and just bought a bunch of led light bulbs and popped the diffusers off, you would be 25-40% more efficient than that crap.

The choices you have already been given, put you at almost double the efficiency of most of that junk.

Consider yourself extremely lucky. Most people asking about that shit have already wasted hundreds of dollars :) You have the opportunity to build yourself a super efficient light for not much money that will destroy most anything available on the mass market for years to come. They are usually using technology that is severely outdated. DIYers get to be on the cutting edge of LED technology.

As that tired and overused pharse goes "it's all good." I agree with you. I appreciate the kind advice and help.

My guess is that one is just a bigger burple. It pisses me off how Amazon hypes the crap and ebay to a lesser extent. I appreciate all the vendors on here who help posters and all the members here who help each other. I got suckered over a year ago with a Mars Hydro 600. Okay in veg - freaking useless in flower.

Yes - mostly. There are a lot of shitty fake reviews on Amazon. It sells more products. I saw this a lot in the book section. They probably went on Fiverr and bought 5 fake reviews for $5.

I have 240-54 driving 3 COBS at 80W each.

2 sets of those gives off a bit less than a 1000W, 3 sets a bit more.

But are you looking for the cheapest option?
Do you want pre-assembled? or DIY?
IS there a budget?
The most complete coverage and even ppfd spread?
Also many different ways to drive LED's, can run fewer harder, or more softer.

It would be easier to provide you an answer with knowing specifics like what size area will this be covering, how many plants, height restrictions etc..

And what is the price increase for the QB boards? Their kits are still a great deal IMO.

I would look at board 320w QB kits versus any of the options you listed if you want a beast of a light, This would be 6 QB boards for cheaper than the hlg 550 and use about an extra 100 watts.

24 Vero 29 x $25 = $600. This does not include holders or a frame or driver. ?????? How do you get to $800?

Vero 18s? Supposedly you can get them for $12 but I cannot find them. Our friend at COB Kits has Citizens for $9.00. I could probably do 10 of those.

Trying to beat 1000 watt HPS SE. Thanks.

For drivers, you figure that part out as there are many different options. You just need to be able to provide 160ma to each cob to get 10w.

Using Vero 29c 3000k 80 cri, 24 cobs @ 10w each will give you roughly 75k lumens. All things being equal (if that is even possible) it should smash your hps.

Frame? Holders? Vero 29 SE have built in connectors and don't need holders. Plants don't care if it looks pretty.

You can get 75,000 lumens from running 4 Vero C's at 1750 as well. What would be the point of running 24 at 10w? That just seems like a massive waste of money.

I am liking Airlight's sugtgestion over at the Fantom Phton thread. 4 Wavvy boards or QBs in a cross and your Citizen's on 4 corners plus your drivers. Which driver?

Is there a holder for the Citizens COBs that can help me avoid soldering? I assume I also need heat sinks for the Citizens. The Wavy's do not appear to need heat sink aluminum. Thanks. .

1000w hps has 110,000 lumens.
