DIY Samsung LED LM561C Project

Hello!

For the last week I have been collecting some information about the LED grow light and I have decided to make my own :)

I'm using a 5x5 Grow Tent and I can waste 600-700W. Having this in mind I have come up with 2 builds:
12x LM561C F-series-Gen3 LT-FB22B Linear Strip @ 3000k (http://www.samsung.com/global/business/business-images/led/file/product/products/201704/Data_Sheet_F_Series_G3_Rev.1.0.pdf)

Drivers:
2x HLG-480H-48A (1st case)
2x HLG-320H-24A (2nd case)

These strips will be mounted like Fluence Spydrx.

How would be the PAR in my 5x5 in both cases? And how about heat?
Are these the right drivers for each case?
Any thoughts on this?

I don't know whitch drive to choose yet as I don't have much experience but I would say:
2x HLG-480H-48A (1st case)
2x HLG-320H-24A (2nd case)

Why 2 drivers? Because I will connect half of the strips to one driver and the other half to another. In veg I just have to power off one driver to get half of the power comsumption.

What do you guys say about this? Is this the best driver in my scenario?

Which drivers would you recommend?

(1st case)
2 fixtures
each fixture with 6x LT-FB22B Strips @ 1.12A 43.7V-46V-48.4V (each strip)
total of 12x strips
(2nd case)
2 fixtures
each fixture with 15x HB22D Strips @ 0.96A 20V-21.6V-24.2V (each strip)
total of 30x strips

I thought about these ones but probably there are better choices:
(1st case) 2x Mean Well HLG-480H-1400A
(2nd case) 2x Mean Well HLG-480H-1400A
I'm doing my calculations at maximum voltage but maybe if I lower the voltage I can get another driver but I really don't know how to do that. Is it by using the dimming feature?

2x HLG-320H-C1050 A or B for 6x FB22B each.

The HB22D H-Series are too expensive in my opinion. You need a lot more of them to get the same amount of light.

Instead of turning off one of the drivers I would dim both to 60-70%.

Thanks for the advice! I have one question:
How can a HLG-320H-C1050 work if it only supplies 1050mA and each strip requires 1120mA to run?

It requires a specific voltage, but it's up to you how hard you want to drive them. Personally, I would prefer 500 or 700 mA for a better efficiancy, but you need more stripes and more smaller drivers in this case.

3x HLG-185H-C700 and 18x FB22B would be my personal choice. At 5'x5' you get a PPFD of ~700 @585W with driver losses included.

I like this setup but would add another two or 4 strips to each light.
48v for safety reasons and 4 more to get better effiency.
With 10 strips in parallel each strip would run @ ~670-700mA and you'll get better lm/w effiency as with H-Series strips.
(77,78mA/diode vs 80mA/diode)
>180lm/w is awesome ...!

How about 24x F-series-Gen3 LT-FB22B Linear Strips divided in 4x HLG185H-C700A drives? That's ~780W but how much PPFD?
My main goal is to get close to 900~1000 PPFD.

How do you make your drive run 48v or any other voltage?

If you use the HLG-320H-48A with is a CV/CC(constant voltage/constant current) driver you need to wire each strip in parallel not in series. The voltage remains the same (46v) for each strip and the driver current(6,7A) is equaly divided between the strips.

If you use the HLG-320H-C700A or B which is a CC(constant current) driver you need to wire the strips in series. 46+46+46... but not more as the drivers max. (~457v/700mA). In this case each strip gets the same current(700mA) and the voltage is divided.

In series connections you can use different LED's with different voltage and drive them @ the same current(within their specs), in parallel connections you need to use LED's with the exact same voltage(46v + 46v iE.).

With the number of LEDs, the connecting circuits and the selection of the driver, you can calculate power, current and voltage of the lamp.

To lower voltage use fewer series strings. Volts add up connected in series. Amps add up connected in parallel

Interesting point. A well selected driver by driving your strips at 1050mA or just below you will get the most from your strips. Using a simple 185h 1050b driver you have a max voltage available of 184Vf. Your strips use 46Vf you can connect 4 strips in series driving them at 1050mA max current. So each driver can run four strips.

How can 3x HLG-185H-C700 consume 585W if 185x3=555 ?
Won't I be consuming more Watts than the drivers can supply? Or the Watts from the Drivers doesn't matter?

According to the spec sheet, the rated power of the HLG-185-c700 is 200 Watts.

...and this is only the max. output at a efficiancy of 94% which means it could even pull ~213W if you include the driver losses.
