Training tips to increase yield!

Yah... I was scratching my head reading that, too. The only time Iv ever seen/heard of multiple plants in the same pot working, is when it is used as a "culling" method. You intentionally plant 2-4 seeds/cuttings per pot, & then cull out the slower, less vigorous plants. Helps with quality & uniformity... never heard of anyone having success growing 3 plants to a pot. At least not the same level of success that giving them all their own pot, so they dont have to compete for space, light & nutrients, will give.
Since I'm outdoors from the get go, I will plant 2-3 seeds in a pot of the lesser strains. I have to transplant them before they are sexually mature, so I can count on 1 or 2 of them being male most of the time. But when I do end up with 2 females, I just tell them to LOB {Lean Over, Baby}. I'm not a big smoker, so yield is not a big deal to me.

Here is a couple of Gorille de Raisin that I had to LOB.

If you dont mind me asking, what are the final pot sizes you run all those girls in through the finishing gate? 1 gal, 3 gal? ...? Thanks bud

I cant imagine how thin you must keep them all. Sativa?
It was basically a way to increase the harvest in a grow with 3 bigger plants in 4gal pots and a bunch of small plants in 2.5gal pots. There's .pics of it in my little grow journal, link in my sig. No more dirt for me for the most part.

I have no interest in following a fashion, but I have fimmed, and only recently refined my technique to the removal of only the tiniest, freshest sprouts as they emerge, with a surgical cut. Fimming doesn't guarantee four colas. You have to get a little lucky, but if you're topping anyway, who knows? One clone astonished me when she responded to a single pinch by self manifolding into eight equal colas. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than smart
Imo fiming was slower than topping and made for less even growth. Lots of nodes from one point seemed more relevant to futher training and not short fast crops aimed at max yeild.

Any training is cool though :-)

Yeah.. thanks. Thats really an interesting style.. but I'll have to leave it for the day i can make my own seeds. 30 seeds woild kill me to buy now. Aside from that little nugget, this is my first grow using LST and topping ffs.. I have a long way to go..

I cant see your sig. Is that because I'm still considered a new user here? I'd be interested seeing your log..

It's that orange line under each post, Occasional pic of current grow. Out of date but what I was up to the last grow. Brought some of that OG out with me and the guy at the dispensary loved it and a relative of mine who grows commercially, 160 light and 84 light grows. All 1000W HIDs smoked some with me and wants a few clones. Felt good to have people who deal with tons of pot from lots of growers dig my shit.

It wasn't a great grow and I'm going back to mostly DWC to up production. Should be scoring gear like CO2 controller, more lights, another light rail etc and some new genetics. Also getting a decent used car to haul it all back with instead of taking that shitty Greyhound back for 24 hours in hell. :)

I'm in Kelowna, BC atm and will be heading back to northern Alberta in about a week or so just to clarify the last bit.

Early withdraw on my inheritance is what it is. Was just shopping for a car today in Vernon but found a deal on an '06 Chev Aveo that had just got traded in and will be detailed and serviced/inspected tomorrow. Only 25K km / 15K mi on it. 35-40 mpg. Always been a Chevy guy and for a small car it's got a solid feel and the door shuts like a Chev twice it's size. :) Paid under 6 for it. Literally owned by that little old lady who only used it to go to church on Sunday. She had a crippled left arm so there's a squished 4" section of the steering wheel where a suicide knob was so she could steer better. Got them to toss in a pair of real winter snow tires for the front and toss the old ones which were original but fairly worn. Back ones less worn with about 75% left so they are fine. Need that soft rubber for the -20C and lower temps where I live.

The balance of 10G will go to grow gear, septic tank getting a very needed pumping out, ($350), New pressure tank, jet pump, filters and RO unit. Few odds and ends for various repairs around the shack should eat up the rest.

Not a bad day. :)
