Let me tell you what's wrong with question 1. You're apparently trying to compare lumen output. "Lumens" are a measure of WHITE LIGHT intensity and is normalized based on the response curve of the human eye - which makes it heavily biased at 550nm (green light). It does not translate over in any meaningful way to blue/red monochrome light. For plants, you need to compare at the PAR output in uMoles, which is an actual photon count, independent of any frequency response curve. That's an apples to apples comparison. You're trying to compare apples to horseshoes.

Now, having said that, lets look at your other claim that basically, "its all lies". A standard 250W HPS bulb is rated for 27,000 lumens. That's 108 lumens per watt, not counting driver losses (actual wall consumption is closer to 290W typically). Samsung's LM531C white light diodes are rated for 168 Lumens per watt in 3000K color temp. Their 4 ft F-series strips at 3000K put out ~8700 lumens at 51.5 watts. Three strips (154.5W) will equal the lumen output of a 250W HPS. That is an apples to apples comparison.

Edit: This is not meant to imply I think that particular light will equal a 250W HPS, but there are LEDs that do so for less power

Are you seriously this dense? I make no claim whatsoever about one or the other being better. I take issue with using lumens to compare white light to Red/Blue monochrome light.

Viparspectra 300w is the best light ever made. It gives off 106x more lumens than a 1000w HPS and only takes 4 days to complete flowering from seed! Also no need to water your plants when using a viparspectra.
I read it somewhere, so it's true.

(Just thought I'd add the vast quantities of knowledge I've read on this thread so far haha )
