Players have never been required to perform in a paid for patriotic display.

The fake story resonates because the NFL has always draped itself with the flag and many of it's fans are rabidly nationalistic. But pro football just a big business and aligning with the flag and the military is all part of our traditions of fake patriotic theater.

Yes, NFL got money from the military. Yes, a military spokesperson said it was a recruitment purpose. ANC's meme said players should stay out of politics because of this. Why? They never were paid or forced to join any of the patriotic displays. Players came onto the field before 2009 on their own. And for some reason they can't protest now?

This is another propaganda fake news item directed at people making a simple protest about cop on black violence. It pisses me off that people fall for it. Just read the meme. It's a false train of logic.

Because: Players started coming onto the field in 2009 (this is false).
And: NFL took money in 2011 and 2013 (this is true).
Therefore: Players should stay out of politics.

My conclusion: People don't know how to read.
