yeah agree, I spent two and half months just reading and reading and surfing and surfing before I started. Of course, I got in to this and changed my mind about the method I was going to use, stealthhydro system and now buckets, but made sure I studied about nutes, temp, water, everything...even soil...keep up the studying, its like a profession...learn something new daily!
For sure, I learn shit every day. My second grow is gonna be 10x better. At first I wanted a very small compact grow that wasnt too high maintenance, which is why i picked stealth hydro and the top 44 strain. now that i've switched to the buckets and am much more experienced in the process, I want to go with some OG kush or white widow, or something like that. These plant I have are pretty small, but seem to be growing fast, just small. I think I may have stunted there growth when I first transplanted them. But like I said. GROW #2 will be so much better.

Props to you longhorn:

Yours are looking healthy and big and ready to blow up with some bomb ass orange bud...Looks like your headed out in first place...hehe

haha it is not about first place...I just like having someone to share the experience with. I agree, the buckets rock. Major difference...Yeah I am definetely going to grow something like that on the next one as well. Now I know the basics, so I am going to move on to the advanced a little. When are you going to flower?

I'm not sure when I should start flowering. I've read that you will see pre-flowers in the 24 hours of light stage within 4-6 weeks. So I dont know if that is true, or If I should just start flowering soon. I think I'll give it another week or so.....I'm kinda anxious to restart my grow and get to grow #2.

What about you? when do u think your gonna start flowering?

Nice grow gr33n, I have been watching this thread AND also watching yalls race in the other thread, lol.

I got a question or two if you wouldn't mind.

On page 7, post# 61, pic#2, you have a pic of what looks like a small air distribution piece. Is that what that is ??? so you can run one strong air pump into that plastic piece and distribute air out to 4-5 diffferent buckets/places ?? I have been doing LARGE fish aquariums for many many years and have never seen one of those. Do you mind sharing where you got it ??

Also, looking at yours AND Longhorns buckets, do yall only have one plant per bucket ??? In a few of the pics, it looks like 2-3 plants in one bucket but I know it's not feasable to have that many plants in one bucket, I think it's just an illusion or the plants are THAT healthy.

Dirtbmw20,

Thanks for checkin out our grow. To answer your questions...

Yes that piece is a unit that has 2 in going feeds and turns it into 5 outgoing feeds. So I have two stronger air pumps pumping into that piece which pumps it into 4 buckets. Then I have one seperate airpump pumping into one bucket. for a total of 5 buckets. I bought it at Petco in the fish aquarium section, I was surprised to see it as well...it was like 5 bucks. I also use small brass t-connectors to split my lines into two. I used to have 3 airpumps pumping into that piece.

I have heard of people putting up to 3 plants per bucket. But that would defeat my whole purpose of switching from the stealth hydro setup, cuz i want to maximize the ammount of room my plants and roots get. I have 1 plant per bucket. And I'm almost positive longhorn's are the same way.

Thanks gr33n. I can't believe I have never seen one of those air distributors before, when I say I use to do large aquariums, I had a 280gal, a 170gal, a 75gal, a 55gal, and a 35gal, all going at the same time in the same room, I still got so many air pumps AND small water pumps out the whazoo, I bet I got 10-12 of those little Rio water pumps like came (or use to) in the SH, I don't know if they still use that Rio pump or not but you have to have alot of those small water pumps in a reef tank, I think if I get me some buckets, I probally got the rest laying around the house. Thanks again.

Dirt,

I bought an airpump that can power 8 outlets and I also bought 4 foot flexible airstones. One of those for each bucket. I bought my pump at thebigtomato.com. Good price plus I trust these guys.

Gr33n,

Are you msiting your leaves? I had some of that on a couple of leaves and it was from some water and nutes I accidentally spilled on them. did you put your clones in the tubs?

no i dont mist at all. Yah that happened to me aso when I spilled a drop of nutes on a leaf. I'm not sure what its from. maybe nute burn.

I just put my plants in the SH setup while I cleaned out the buckets....

Dirt,

Sorry about not answering, I got my camo buckets at Wal Mart back in the paint section. 4.94 a piece and 1.90 for the lids I believe.

bro bro, take that bloom light out of there, during veg you don't need any red spectrum at all, just use as many blue light bulbs as possbile.

Howeverm during flowering you can mix and match bulbs, i recommend 1 blue bulb to every 3 red bulbs, if using florescents or cfls

i bet your plants will grow much faster, they should be more lively than that, also get some co2 and maybe a humidifier, will lower ambient temp and also not use as much watcer from the bucket.....no matter what others say this c02 system works great and it also is very safe and efficient co2boost, i have used this multiple times, and it works well, co2 every other say, you should see huge gains on a regular basis

www.co2boost.com

the good things is that the co2 boost sytems last 72 days if used only while your lights are on(on the same timer) well worth the money and way less hassle than co2 bottle

bobbyboy...

The red light and blue light are connected to eachother as one unit...

My plants are stunted not because of lack of co2, but because when I extracted them from soil to hydro, I didn't get there whole root systems...At the time I was a noob and had no clue what I was doing.

Humidifier? Dude I'm in cali, humidity is 80% year round...

I've read that there are cheaper ways of adding co2 that are just as efficient... yeast, carbonated water, small co2 tanks etc...

This grow was more of an experiment. Maybe I'll get one of those co2 things for my next grow. No, I probably wont. lol.

Thanks for stoppin by...

:peace:
