Need real advice from parents with autistic children

This is the kindest, most lucid thread I've ever seen in TNT. I'm so proud of us. OP, I raised a child with Asperger's for years (son from my wife's first marriage), and it was quite a struggle. His symptoms were very similar to your son's. We never even thought of cannabis as a treatment, not sure why since his mom and I smoked it every day. With a LOT of patience, love and special programs, he has turned out to be a charming, self-sufficient (for the most part) young man. Best of luck to you, you sound like a great dad that has what it takes...
Thank you, it really is worth the struggle. Every time they laugh or smile it's just fuel for me to always try and be a better parent on a daily basis. That being said it's tough, i work 60+ hours a week plus I have 2 step kids on top of my two. Its easy to feel burnt out, especially for my wife, who is a stay at home mom for obvious reasons.

I'm glad things are going well for your stepson, that's awesome honestly.

Research the strain Candida CD-1. I’m growing it for my mother right now as she doesn’t want psychoactive medication for her fibromyalgia. It’s a 20:1 CBD strain that never surpasses 1% THC in all tests in all its phenotypes. I’ll be making her canna caps to take 4 times a day to try to alleviate her pains.
Best of luck with your journey

Thank you! That's exactly the kind of strain I was looking for!

Best wishes to you and yours.

My daughter wasn't diagnosed till 8 or 9 that she was autistic high spectrum.
Shes now 20...
5 yrs of her life doing crap meds for adhd wasted and part of the reason she suffers from ptsd that and bullying at schools.
Glad u are onto it early for your son.
My daughter has been smoking weed and eating edibles for 4 yrs now
I know when i grow wat helps her and she lets me know.
Shes high spectrum so doesn' feel the need as an adult for high cbdc strains just being able to smoke and feel good does wonders for her.
I would have chopped off my arm for her tho from age 4 to 15 to be able to administer cbd edibles for her in those yrs

I could imagine it being rough, and I'm sorry that through drs misdiagnosis she had those years of meds she didn't need.

I placed an order for a strain mentioned earlier in this thread, candida CD 1, I'm thinking that to start I'm going to make a candy edible for my son, granted this is awhile off obviously.

In the meantime I'm going to try giving Dr. Bonni Goldstien a call in the morning yo see if she knows of any physicians in my area that will try to get the ball rolling with legal cdb treatments for my son. I'm hoping for good news.

It's funny, I started smoking and growing pot solely because I liked getting high, fast forward a decade and I see real potential for cannabis to drastically help my son. It's crazy to think about, obviously I've known about the medical benefits of cannabis for years now, but never did I think that I would have a use, let alone pursue weed that doesn't get you high.

It's not misdiagnosis it's how crude the current science is. Physicians and pharmacologists aren't the enemy the science isn't there yet because of the politics of prohibition. If you look at some of the research coming from Israel there is hope.

This was straight out misdiagnosis.
We were even told we werent strict enough to keep our child in line at one stage....the side effects of meds for treating adhd were horrendous in the least.
My wife told them from day one something wasnt right from the time it daughter started walking ....could see it in her eyes.
Id take the docs to court if I really wanted justice

True, I never did think of it that way. Also considering that I recently read that any research done in the states is done essentially with mexi brick weed. I, in being short sighted, didn't consider research being done else where.

What were the differentials they missed? The state of medicine in psychiatry is about the crudest there is. We have put next to nothing in mental health. I think what happened to your kid was horrific and sadly common and not malicious. Medical science in mental health sucks.

Prohibition fucks over any science. My heart breaks for Ruby Fruit and the shit he had to put up with. Prohibition is a failed political agenda and so many of the most innocent of all have suffered for it

Truer words are rarely spoken. Ive never really thought about being a open activist, mainly due to keeping face of being the non smoking non growing dad working his ass off to provide for his family, yaknow blending into my small town demographic. The other side of things around here is being a full on junkie, I never want to go back down that road.

That being said now I have a drive to lead the way, funny the influence your kids have over you isn't it. I want to help normalize cannabis use on a local level, just have to find the appropriate way to start.

Activists are rare air. Now you need to go completely underground and save your kid's life. That's why we owe the political activists so much, martyrs for a cause.

Came across this whilst doing a bit of research.

The symptoms of this boy are near identical to my son, especially the communication part. It gives me so much hope for my son.
That being said, I personally feel, that after seeing the price on the Charlotte's web oil they sell, the Stanley brothers are feeding off of peoples illnesses, which I find near sickening.

They are charging at their cheapest option $40 for 30ml of their weakest concentration of cbd oil.

Now, I may sound unreasonable, but think of it this way, how is a young single parent who barely makes enough for bills and food working a low income job, going to be able to come up with the extra money necessary to help their child in need.

Or the old widow down the road, living meagerly on ssi benefits, why should she have to choose between her health, or skipping out on grocerys for a week.

Now sadly I understand this is already how things are for so many, and I consider myself fortunate to have a decent job and make good money for my area, but isn't it a bit off that so many people are more concerned with profit than helping others?

I know that this is already how big pharma is, but you'd think that it would be different in the cannabis industry.

That’s why it’s always best to grow and make your own.

You know it takes about an ounce to make a gram of oil?
Yes, I've done my fair share of extractions in the past, but weve all seen the Stanley bros grow op, well most of us, and I'm sure it's only gotten larger.

It just seems wrong to me to feed off of others misfortune. Are they the first? Nope. Will they be the last? Absolutely not. Does it make it right? Not even close.

Just my personal feelings.
