Need advice / opinions - 2 400 watt hps vs 600w hps in 4x4 tent

Again, I never said anything at all about how good they are. All I said was that there are UV led's. Is that really too hard for you to comprehend? Just in case you didn't get it that was both a rhetorical question and sarcasm. I'm done with this conversation.
You said this
It's a proven fact that there's a direct relationship between UV exposure and potency. Some hps have a little UV but they can't touch halides or led.
Might wanna try to not backtrack your own words like that when they are written right above your post. Current horticultural LEDs do not contain UV like a MH or CMH light does, they contain no UV. Make sure you get your shit straight you can't walk back that shit on me and play those games.

Fuk it. So damn many varying reports on cmh...315's or 630's. Ive researched till my head is ready to explode. Was gonna roll with 630 de cmh from G. choice. But now I hear they aint all that or they are having problems with manufacturing. Wth? Plan was to run 8 cmh. 630 watt. De or the regular double bulb and stagger em in betwixt my Gavita 6/750's. I think iam holding back. Might grab a couple 315 lec's from SS and slap them up in my veg tents. And take it slow. 3 to 5k in another 8 lamps is some money to me. And I just did that a few years ago on the 8 Gavitas. And that room is frikin DIALED. One of the best rooms ive ever built. And ive built a few. Not counting a mini split and commercial grade dehuey. Fuk this is alot of money anymore.
something you might want to try is the eye horti blue daylight MH bulb. i tried one on a mag ballast and the spectrum might actually be superior to CMH.

Them bulbs are EXPENSIVE!!! But I know a guy that uses them in veg and they put out a very sun like spectrum.

and they don't last long either. but they claim they are the closest to sunlight and i believe them. i think my 400w was 70 bucks. so not muchmore than a cmh. not sure what the 1k runs though?

if you got any old mag ballasts laying around, try one out.

I got 4 old ass sun systems and hydrofarms left. Sold the rest over the years. I might xust one off and fire her up.

Leds wasnt even one of my options on this original post lol. For everyone's info, I decided to grab a Nanolux 630 cmh dual bulb hood. The the light and two phillips bulbs for $500. Threw it into my 4x4 and I can say this, the colors of the buds are much more vibrant. Blues and purples . As well as the pistils have reallly thickened up and began sprouting more white pistils on both my plants . Buds have seemed to be bulking up more but it's impossible to say if it's because of the cmh. I have a death star og a couple weeks from finish and a blueberry kush a few weeks from finish. After that is when I can really put these lights to the test. I'm comparing this unit to my old setup of a 400w hps with 200w led for added spectrum
Was averaging 4 ozs per plant. Each plant took up 4 sq ft. I'll be expecting larger yield obviously having a bit more hid power. What i really want to compare is quality and terps

Fluence has a UV specific supplemental fixture. Regardless of the brand's quality there are UV led's, they are used in agriculture, and if you have no UV in your gardens spectrum you're missing out on an important biological function that influences quality and yield.

To sum it up for you, there are UV led's.

Good choice. Jst be careful not to run too close to the canopy, especially running the 630 in a 4x4. The UVB in cmh can torch your trichs.

I've currently got it set about 26-28 inches above the canopys. I've noticed the leaves have definetly got a little scorched from the uv. So probably need to add a bit more height . But the top buds are looking sooooo good and purple. Here's a pic of the bulb spectrums. I did one 3100k phillips and one 4200k phillips

That's where that UV really shines. It also can increase growth rate.

Yeah I've been reading up how people are saying there harvests are about a week or so ahead of schedule . It's definetly brighter . My grow room is getting better and better. Since I now have the 630cmh in my flowering tent. I was able to replace my t5 with my 400w MH in my veg closet . Now I use my viparspectra 450w ( 200w actual) for my seedling starts. I only run the veg switch which controls they white and blue spectrum. I've never grown from seed, always clones. I just sprouted 4 - La Affie seeds. And 2 Cinderella 99. They just showed there first leaves. How far should I keep the led from seedlings ? Running just the veg switch , the led only draws about 116w.

currently im running a 4x4 600w hps and am hoping for around 1lb yield, averaging an ounce per plant at 16 plants. I'm pretty confident at this point as I have been able to dial down PH, temp, humidity, and nutrient feeding pretty consistantly. I would opt for 1 600w hps but if you can afford personally i would go LED with a Kind750w hps equivalent, but they are very expensive.
That's basically the yield im getting with the 400w hps and 200wled combined. Getting about an oz for every sq ft.

When talking UV light, you need to be aware of what spectrum you are talkkng about. UVA or UVB. Some UVB has its benefits but can easily be too much.

Shheeiitt homie..yer good. Still...try rocking a thouie in that tent. You would crush all who oppose you no doubt. You got it down for a rookie or pro time. Very impressive. Ive ran that Ghost train Haze. She is a 12er but man...shes one of the best hazes ive ever ran. Like many i say after the fact..should of kept her. At anyrate..NICE!!!
I'm actually not suuuuuper impressed with this strain. Yield was actually pretty decent . Looks really good. Smells really good. But came out a little bit harsh. Might have used to much mollasses during the flush. The high is pretty good. Much more full body high than other strains I've ran. Just doesent taste as good as it could have imo

Quite a ways. Im guessing at least 18”. As much as i love cmh and led, t5s are the way to go for seedlings imo. They dont need a ton of light, just enough to keep them from stretching.

A lot of the regular metal halides even go into the UVC which you don't want to go anywhere near. The glass in sealed hoods filters all of the UVB/UVC and leaves a good portion of the UVA intact. That way you get the benefits without the negatives.

See thats the issue I was having with my t5's. About 15 inches from my seedlings. They were stretching so much and starting to fall over I had to add soil to the cup to keep them from falling over . I put them under the led 2 days ago so I'll check on them when I get home tonight

I keep a t5 about 6" or even less from seedlings as long as I can keep the temp no higher then around 78°. Once they're hardened off I keep the t5 as close as I can without the plant being closer than about a half inch by the time I adjust the light at the end of each day.
