Here in ZA we really have some of the best weather, it can be raining like a mofo one minute and then you're getting sunburnt the next. Our weather alone keeps some people here, I'm sure.
The people here are amazingly friendly, especially the coloured guys I've met and the black guys I've met. There's still some serious racism issues here, but it's expected as apartheid was not that long ago if you look at the people who are older (above 50/55) as they grew up with it, and it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks, so they won't change how they treat black people, BUT, more and more people are becoming accustomed to seeing interracial couples and working with other races. To be honest with you guys, the amount of Zambian black wealthy businessman here is crazy, and they have money and are incredibly smart. Majority of black people here speak more than 3 languages and they're smart, but south africans are lazy, they'd rather be on the street and not have a "boss" than work. This is why we have so many Malawians, Zimbabweans and some other nationals coming here for work.
We are a great country, we have crime, just like anywhere else. But if you're a little bit aware, you'll be fine. If you're visiting, come to well known areas, like Johannesburg or Pretoria in Gauteng, Ballito or Umhlanga Rocks in Kwa Zulu Natal, Cape town is amazing in the Western Cape. You'll find some place a little more unsavoury to tourists, but if you speak to people you know there, they can tell you where they are willing to go, where they love to go, and where NOT to go. All you need to do is ask.
Feel free to hit me up of you have any questions.
Take it easy guys.
