Functional illiteracy in America

You could have been sold a line of crap from a military recruiter instead and ended up dead or disabled instead of “seeing the world” or whatever pitch they used.

Buyer beware. With freedom comes good and bad. Honesty and dishonesty.

And most loans are sold by someone on commission for their salary.
Of course the college and lender knew they were going to make money, they were mandated to. Yeah I suppose I'm pretty fucking lucky lol.

Don’t you remember anything I have told you about me? you must realize how ignorant of a Jew you are being right now.

When I read that it is so far off I didn’t even realize you meant me.

And there is no German in my background. But we were there unfortunately.

You are now just truly ignorant. Even to your own family. Why do you hate real Jews?
Nazi is a metaphor for the shit going down right now, dip wad. It's not about your family, pf which you have some prideful association in, I guess. Your sitting on the fence about today's acts when the white supremacist neo-Nazi president is literally killing people with his regulatory powers is exactly how that distant family that you are so proud of but understand so little got murdered in the first place.

My god you are stupid.

when the bank orders fed notes for the vault, or for the computer, what prompts the order?

personally I'm not making a specie backed argument at present, i read the coinage act and the window closed, duh.

say that note in your pocket that you conflate as a dollar was born in the bailout, still not debt?

say it was created when some guy took out a loan for a car, still not debt?

I'm not making a jew conspiracy argument either, or any conspiracy.

but the note in your wallet isn't a dollar and is redeemable in lawful money.

that said, the constitution protects your right to contract outside of it and use any money system you want....

you have lots of options there but you can only pay taxes with one elastic fiat variety and that's the catch.
LOL

Like baloon payments and reverse mortgages leading up to the housing crisis? Just like student loans, when enough people are fooled or make a bad decision, it impacts the larger economy to some degree. I think it would make more sense to end the unjust and predatory practices to help prevent that sort of thing.

As for paying for your own mistakes, that sounds pretty fair. But it seems there are other instances where people bankrupt becuase of insurmountable debt and it is acceptable for the people they owe, or the population in general, to pay for it. Like medical bankruptcy. Say someone piles up $50k in medical bills caused by smoking or doing some stupid stunt. That was a health choice they made, they decided to get cheap or no insurance, the hospital provided an agreed upon service, yet they can bankrupt and others pay. It's just odd that bankruptcy applies to every bad decision people make accept choosing the wrong education/career path. (I'm sure there are some nuances I am missing about various bankruptcy types, I don't mind getting schooled if that's the case).

I agree about the crash and the causes. And I agree others should not have to pay for someone’s mistakes or situation.

I went bankrupt from illness. I had a 6 figure income and a nice house. I filed for reorganization. It was granted. I kept paying as long as I could. I eventually lost the house and life anyway.

But I eventually figured out how to live with little money and even contract a cheap house here and start over.

I just can’t afford new cars and expensive lifestyle anymore. I rarely eat out at restaurants or pay for first run movies. That sort of thing. And I fix and maintain what I can myself now.

And the bank made a profit on my lost property.

Most bankruptcies are not a walk away clean from your debt deal. It was easier for a time. And the lawyers made a killing. But the laws tightened up.

Just like in the 80’s when I was an auto dealership finance manager we had a 5 point spread to make profit on interest loans from the major banks. Payments are close to them today on cars that are double the price because they cap the dealer and offer low interest.

But we made the paycheck while it lasted.

We live in a capatilist world. Not democratic and not socialist. We are responsible for ourselves. We are responsible to understand money and budget.

Ignorance is no excuse to break the law. It’s no excuse to over extend yourself on a loan.

Just my feelings about this.

You project an amazing amount of stuff on to me.

And it is an inappropriate and incorrect metaphor.

I have no power to affect what is happening right now from our president. When the time comes I will do what I feel is right.

What I am on the fence about is agreeing with the one sided elitist republican sounding opinions you Democrats here keep forcing on everyone.

You are a bit more reasonable sounding. Until you have more trump meltdown. Hate is a shaky motivator.

You know like a wise ass 5th grader.
Or like Donald Trump, Fox News, Breitbart, every Republican in both House and Senate, local Fox affiliates, New York Post, LA Times.......
I have told him the info 3 different times
Hmm, I'm not sure I saw the substantiation either. But as I've said before, this is a conversation between you and Buck. I'm staying out of it.

Actually I wasn’t talking to buck. He just does this any time I post. He loves to hate me.

Like I love to hate tinystikk or Sheskunk. Deep down you love them inside. Like really really deep down. Near the anus, where all the shit comes out. And it super stinks down there. That place.

Eh, no.

I am sure they are different to their friends and families in the real world but here.........

I am curious how many members we lose if all of their accounts were banned?

I'm sure tinystikk would lose a good 2 or 3. The resellers would lose a couple each. Many of the fly-by-night trollers will likely have an extra 1 or 2 lurker accounts.

I'd lose none. I've been the same loser since 2011. Granted I've been banned 6 times. But everyone loves me. So they keep bringing me back. I think it's the fact that I'm so damn smart.

Buck has been the same Buck since 2011 as well I believe, possibly even before.

You've been here about a year or so. Welcome to RIU!

Thanks. I joined 2 july’s ago. I grew my garden for a couple of years successfully before I joined to talk growing and show my plants. I was sidetracked for a few months at the rm3 site but that was a waste of time. I like it here.

I like THC Farmer too. Well the people I chat and share with there. Not the moderation and owners agendas so much. It tends to be a lot less combative over there. Lol.

I usually only read the political threads but the topics of late and the severely one sided arguments make me want to post lately.

I don’t agree with any political parties so the trump love/hate guys blame me for the outcome. And automatically attack because I won’t take sides.

You sound much more knowledgeable than some of the other self proclaimed intellectuals here. And a lot smarter.

They state opinion and pop news as fact if it supports their position and condemn the same when it fails them. And repeat each other like a sales force or fraternity.

You offer intelligent questioning and conversation.

Nice to meet you.

I appreciate the vote of confidence, but I think you'd be surprised at the level of intellect many have, it's just clouded by the need to never back down. Me included.

Trump is identity politics. He's not a conservative, nor a progressive. He is Trump and he is Trumpism. You either love him [or tolerate him] because you identify with him somehow or perhaps you identify with the line of shit he is feeding you, or you hate him and thusly don't identify with him at all, and make it an effort to not identify with him. -- That's my take on it.

What's nice about growing pot, is that it's like growing anything. You gotta take care of it with love and attention. So I generally need a forum to tell me how to love my plants. So I don't really have a need to a slow, do nothing forum. It's a time killer not a knowledgebase. Though there is tons of useful information on RIU [and THC Farmer alike].

You don’t act like them. Nothing is clouded by their need to never back down. That is the sign of less intellect.

If we are holding a belief but are confronted with new information that alters that belief we then are able to learn.

All that happens here is denial at that point.

And I am only here to kill boredom mostly as well. I’m actually pretty busy trying to garden most nights. In between important posts of course. Lol.

To keep with Michigan plant count and allowable product in house I plant and harvest every week or two perpetually and although I have not worked a day job in a decade I have worked the garden every day almost 4 years now.

I run lights on at night to save money on air conditioning in summer and help heat the house at night in winter.

No one to talk to in the middle of the night but the Internet.

Never, not one time have I ever conflated theft with a loan. Maybe theft with bankruptcy, but certainly not a loan. Nice try though.
The process by which you can pull money from the ATM is probably not what you think, judging by aforementioned comment.
No. You can pull money from an ATM that you don't have. It is possible.
So getting money from an ATM that you don't have deposited isn't theft?
Do tell.
No, a dollar in my pocket is not debt. You are simply wrong. In fact quite the opposite, a dollar in my pocket that doesn't need to be paid to satisfy a debt, is equity.
I've proved to you using your own "schooling" materials that you are mistaken. Why don't you post some supporting documentation for your claim? Or are you too "super intelligent" for that?
I did read your post, and that was totally my mistake, I should have never done that, I will remember in the future to not do that.
Your mistake was to bring your opinion and present it as undisputed fact and not having anything to back it up.
The Federal Reserve is a government entity. The Federal Reserve Banks exist by an act of Congress, the Banks themselves are treated as a corporation, the board of governors, the ones who run the Banks, is a government agency. The Federal Reserve, thusly the Federal Reserve Banks are in existence to serve the public. -- You are playing word games.
Then go troll through the Federal Reserve Act and quote the definitive parts of that saying so.
Let me show you how.....again:

These assets are generally Treasury securities which have been purchased by the Federal Reserve through its Federal Open Market Committee in a process called debt monetizing. This monetized debt can increase the money supply, either with the issuance of new Federal Reserve Notes or with the creation of debt money (deposits). This increase in the monetary base leads to a larger increase in the money supply through fractional-reserve banking as deposits are lent and re-deposited where they form the basis of further loans.

This is from the Federal Reserve Act. that you linked to. Why are Treasury Securities purchased by the Federal Reserve if it a Gov't institution without shareholders?

Or are you bored because you can't back up those claims. ;)
