The Physical Dangers of LED Lights

Metal halide causes skin cancer?

That's a new one.

But so does too much strong sunlight so if you never leave mummy's basement you'll be ok...

PS. What kind of light do you think CMH is, and since you've used it you can tell us all about your melanoma..
I have used SE MH and HPS. Had a stint of squamous with MH. I know almost as much as most doctors when it comes to basal, squamous and fortunately no melanoma. though I may have had a tiny small dot of it on my shin.

The stuff I use will kill it all in 24 hours. I had MOHs surgery for squamous when I was young. Got it on the shoulder from MH even though I always had shirts on. My stuff killed it in 24 hours and it took about a month to heal. Laugh it up. More than a few famous people have died from melanoma. I do not like MH at all.

Lets not forget some of the physical dangers of DIY LED light design and assembly!
In no particular order : Headaches from staring at data sheets, getting bitched out by the wife, thermal paste poisoning,Soldering iron burns, aluminum shaving splinters from drilling, the occasional wire stripper pinch, minor electrical shock, up to full on cardiac arrest from electrocution.....
I stuck two fingers in the table saw building my last set.

MH is not the factor, not when you include that natural sunlight you walk around in daily.

Just because something happens when you use one thing does not mean that said thing is the cause, otherwise I would have been dead long ago thanks to the work I used to do.

Sorry, but someone saying "Metal Halide Lights cause cancer" is so wrong it's up there with the Jewish lizard people setting up 9/11 so they could get the Afghan oil.

This is the third or fourth time someone has posted this BS video here in the past years.
That's exactly where the right two conspiracy theorists come together.

If that's true, what he says it is not just LED, but any other form of lighting... except maybe the old incandescent bulbs. If you are really worried about the lack of infrared radiation, then use CRI90+ at home, which, as we know, provides higher levels of infrared radiation. You could also use some 730nm diodes to add even more far-red to your household.
I agree with them to a certain point.
Since the discovery of electricity, people spend about 80-90% of their lives indoors. Before that it was not even 50%. Vitamin D deficiency is only one consequence of this change. It is also known that this can force depressions.
The simplest would be if people would start using more light tunnels to enlight their homes. So you would need to use electric light only during the night hours.
Apart from that, they save electricity and their worldwide proliferation could help lower global CO² emissions which is much more important in my opinion.

Light tunnels are no use in my "natural environment", the big yellow thing in the sky is such a rare sight in Scotland it was only relatively recently that we stopped sacrificing chickens, goats and virgins because we thought we'd upset the rain gods whenever it appeared.

But in all seriousness, people underestimate the effect different lighting has on the human body, fluorescent lighting, as an example, has been said to affect brain chemistry and in winter, when there is generally much less natural sunlight around, they can exacerbate things like SAD.

BUT, like with any other sort of light anyone here uses for growing, it's not as if anyone here will be sitting under them all day in their grow room/tent/whatever so we must keep things in perspective. You sit under a MH light for hours on end then it MIGHT have an effect on you depending on the intensity, but so does sitting in the sun with bare skin all day, depending on the intensity and your own genetics of course. You're in an enclosed space under TL/CFL all day with no natural light, it MIGHT have an effect on you, sticking your head into your tent for a few minutes will do nothing.

So, sorry to the OP, but stop the fucking scaremongering and stop believing that if some moonhowler says it on the internet then it MUST be true, as these moonhowlers thrive on gullible people believing their bullshit. Without people continually spreading said nonsense around, it would stop and then a SENSIBLE discussion regarding what the potential effects of different lighting could be had.

"Joseph Mercola is an osteopath and a frighteningly popular alternative medicine guru and (more or less) cult leader. He advocates and takes seriously more or less any idiotic crackpot or anti-science idea he comes across, including but not limited to flu-denialism and anti-vaxx. He has claimed that modern medicine kills more people than it helps, that BigPharma is really involved in a conspiracy to kill you/prevent you from accessing the real remedies, that “toxic metals in vaccines and dental fillings” is the cause for a wide variety of ailments, and that your shampoo is really dangerous.

His website contains most branches of pseudoscience, all major sorts of crankery, every logical fallacy ever committed by man, dishonesties and smearing. He claims to be uninterested in profit, but makes a lot of it from selling all sorts of bullshit remedies at a steep price. His trust in the naturalistic fallacy suppresses any real science or scientific evidence he may come across."

I love BigPharma. Except when they discontinued Quaaludes. BigPharma helps get me through the day.

it can and does cause skin cancer
MH causes cancer? That's probably only in California.

The stuff I use will kill it all in 24 hours.
So what's the problem? You have an imaginary antidote to your imaginary cancer.
Chemically induced psychosis? Put the pipe down.

Nope. It is real. They have thousands of testimonials with pics and I have used it. It works great and is very cheap.

So is Snake Oil, and I reckon that's what you bought.

But I'll tell you what, don't bother about the testamonials (which are generally made-up testicles), post some peer reviewed medical research on your "wonder product" and then we'll decide.

And, at the same time, similar that says a few minutes at a time, when clothed, under MH lighting would be the sole reason for ANY sort of skin cancer. Not bullshit from some loonspud on the web, genuine, peer-reviewed, medical research.
