P deficiency?

Having an issue with leaves dieing off bottom up, the rest of the leaves are nice dark green, but leaves turn black brown and get crunchy, pretty sure it's not N. I'm thinking it's a P def. I fed extra P but it seemed to keep going should I keep feeding, feed harder?

5x7 room , 1 1000w hps
Temps 65-75, humidity 40-70%
5 Gallon pots kings mix soil
Feeding Maxi bloom, kool bloom(later), magnum for a little extra mag,cal mag ,earth juice catalyst
Ph buffered to 6.2- 6.520180218_204101.jpg 20180218_204041.jpg 20180218_204101.jpg

Looks like some phosphorous and maybe some potassium deficiency, with maybe a leaf or two showing some calcium deficiencies.
I'd flush really good with fresh PH'd water, after a lot of water going through check the run off for PH and PPM/EC they should be pretty close to what it is going in.
If you want to then check what the runoff is right now.
The answer is rarely hit it harder with nutes.
Remember it will take 3-5 days before you start seeing a difference if you solve it.

It does look like p def, but if you’ve already added it, it may not be. What’s the ppm of your water? Are you using r/o water, tap, well?

I'm using tap water been feeding around 700ppm, feed water water
But I fed 2x in a row when this issue came up and didn't really help , could it be ph fluctuations?

I'll try that out and post the results tonight

I asked because I was having the same problem with my plants, and it turned out to be low ppm tap water. I have to add calmag every watering now.
Test your tap water ppm,(before nutes). If your tap water ppm is high, you may be limited to the nutes you’re able to add.

What would be considered high ppm tap? Mines at 40ppm

Mine is 20-25ppm, very low. I add calmag until the water reads between 125-150 ppm, every watering. Then add your nutes.. This is the problem. I don’t mean to sound full of my self, but it’s not a common problem. Most people have high ppm tap water.

i was having Cal and Mag issues till i started feeding it in almost every water so i totally have noticed the difference my last few grows, do you use it with both waterings and feedings? i also added magnum because it seems the soil i use is fairly low in mag and i use that in every water/feed. btw what cal mag do you use? im using GH because it has the lowest N so it dosnt affect my feed ratio i use botanicare during veg for extra N

Yeah, I use it for regular and feeding nutes. I use GH too. If you want alternatives, there’s dolomite lime, Epsom salts, you could look into.
I definitely had your symptoms. Dying from bottom up. Fan leaves would roll up, not curl under. Some were twisted, but all would eventually dry up crispy and die. I started with the cal/mag and the plant completely turned around within 2 weeks.

Your issue will be ph related, not cal-mag! Calcium does not move from bottom up, and you would see issues with magnesium as well on the other perfectly green leaves. Your ph is way too high..you're growing in a mix of coco/sphagnum peat moss, ph should never get above 6.2...above 6 you will start seeing lockouts of heavier micro elements, phosphorus as well does not get taken up well at your ph levels. Keep the ph between 5.7-6.0. If you can add other pics, showing the top of the plant and a zoomed back image would help.

Have you checked run off pH? Looks like your mediums pH is way off, meaning acidic. Possibly from not letting the medium dry out enough.

Best of luck.
Peace

If you’ve never had the ppm problem you have 0 idea what I’m talking about. I chased ph, p def for months. You’re wrong

5.7-6 in soil! Wrong!

not true, i limed every peat mix i ever grew in and held steady pH at 6.8 with beautiful fat plants (when i grew with bottles ;) ). As long as you're below 7pH the plant will have all nutrients available. but i agree with you saying that it's not cal def. cal is immobile in the plant. It def. looks like a phos deficiency def. to me anyway... but it's nice to be able to dial in diagnosis when you know the pH of your medium, for sure.

are you in a peat based mix?

my basis for it not being a cal def is because the leaves are not showing rust issues at the veins, but you're having the dark spots and leaf dying that is more common symptom of P def.

ppm problem? What's that? Again, his leaves do not show a calcium or magnesium deficieny, so yes, adding cal-mag makes no sense. Calcium does not begin at the bottom and move up, it starts at the top of the plant! A Mg def also would not look like that. Tried to help, you know better, good luck!

He's not growing in soil! LOL..look at what he's grwoing in..just because it's 'dirt' does not make it soil! its a mixture of coco and sphagnum peat moss! You're clueless, anyways, im not forcing help, do what you want, im out lol.

also your leaves look really shiny... are you spraying them with anything like neem? just wondering if maybe you are over applying it.
