How often do you encounter nutrient issues?

I just finished my 4th grow and basically every single time I have encountered nutrient issues during flowering. Some cases have been worse than others but there are signs of potassium and calcium deficiencies every single time. I imagine it shouldn't be that hard to have a full grow without any symptoms whatsoever but I am finding it tough to gauge. First 3 grows I was using Earth Juice and my last grow used Elite nutrients. I have tried following their schedules exactly as well as variating but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I ph my water to around 6.2-6.5. The only other issues I can imagine are some ppm related issues, something about the soil I use (fox farm ocean forest and/or happy frog), or my ph meter needs to be calibrated. Thoughts?

PS. I know FFOF is a 'hot soil' so I don't use nutrients for 4-6 weeks, but the issues don't show up till flowering anyways.

And as for do I need to ph in soil?
No but I do because it makes me feel better knowing what im feeding is in range right then and there.
Just my preference

as often as i fuck up and do something wrong.
if you're providing good conditions and feeding good nutes, you should have very few problems.
if you're having constant problems using well established products, chances are, it's you. you need to figure out what it is you're doing wrong, or you'll never quit doing it.
could be something as simple as a meter being off, could be a fundamental problem in your room design, could be a lot of things, you have to figure out what it is.

Hi everyone ,I’m a new guy I made my first grow and I’m having a few problems I’m having a deficiency in the veg stage and I’m not gonna do anything until I find out what the problem is he is exactly right you can’t move on until you find out what the problem is or you are your going to keep doing it . I figure I can keep my plant in vegetative state as long as I can and It could be forever until I find out the problem

I get the same thing except mine is more mag and potassium deficient.
So basically your under feeding it. How do they look when you start flower? Bet they look ok then about week three you get the fade right?
What ppm's are you feeding at?
You add microbes?
Find a nutrient with a higher K.
Try to up the ppm's during the veg, up it in flower.
Amino acid will help with the calcium uptake, you could try to add some of that to your soil.

You run the same plant for each grow, if you do you can supplement in some extra K in with your nutes and plan ahead for the fade. It's easier to fine tune nutes if you run the same plant all the time.
I looked at the earth juice thought the K was low the elite was better. The earth juice bloom said it was a 0/3/1 is that your product? K is too low imo.
Did you have more of a calcium deficiency with the earth juice than the elite? Cant find label info on the earth juice does it have calcium listed on it?

Calibrate your meter.

Feeding it with a low K product and underfeeding in general.

.. you're on your 4th grow, it's still the learning curve, by the time you're on your 40th grow you'll find you don't have any at all..! :hump:

6.5, start at 50% around week 4, or when the plant seems hungry

Pretty much exactly, a few weeks into flower is when I see issues.

I am a fool and I have completely ignored ppm. I have a meter but I haven't been using it, which will change moving forward.
I don't add microbes or amino acids. The EJ setup I use is the Grow, Bloom, Catalyst, Meta K, and Microblast. The Elite nutrients were just A, B, C, D and Root Igniter. On top of that all I've used is a Cal/Mag supplement, and whatever nutrients are present in the soil. I don't really plan on using either Earth Juice nor Elite moving forward. My bottle of EJ Bloom is about 1/4 full with just basically solid material now, and the Elite nutrients were sampler packs given to me for free by the local Hydro store owner. I have enough for 1 more grow for those but after that I will be trying something new. (Leaning towards Fox Farm nutes at the moment but I could be talked into something else.)

My 2nd and 3rd grows (with EJ) had less severe issues but still some present. This last grow w Elite had some ugly leaves by the end, so I'm not sure I could say if EJ or Elite had different outcomes for calcium.

See thats the thing I veg for 6-8 weeks and the plants show basically 0 symptoms even at 8 weeks, but as soon as I flower yeah they start to appear over a few weeks.

See thats the thing I veg for 6-8 weeks and the plants show basically 0 symptoms even at 8 weeks, but as soon as I flower yeah they start to appear over a few weeks.

Talk about your transition to flower nutrient regimen? How do you change from veg nutes to flower nutes is what I'm asking

*edited to add I'm a big believer in keeping it simple. I use 3 part nutrients to which I may add Cal Mag or just mag, it's so much easier and as long as the plants nutritional requirements are met I really think that all that stuff is just to sell lotsa brite-fancy bottles and make money, just my opinion

Right on I would get some microbes rockin in there to help.

Idk get your nutes out act like your doing a feed and ppm it to see what it is then piss the nutes down the drain. Scale it down to a one gallon feed. Whats the ppm?

Your probably an under feeder.

Its basically changed each grow as im learning and trying to fix the problem. i think this time i started nutes a week before flowering just following the elite recommended schedule. the plants were in 7g smart pots so about 2g of water each for maybe 15-20% run off
