What's the story

I'm thinking a tent only 3 feet high is tough, more cobs or boards or strips would really help?
Yeah with 3 feet of height i wouldnt even use cobs, I would 100% use strips or maybe quantum boards as it's more spread out so you can get close to the plants without it being too intense.

So now I'm back to square one...
No big deal man, you could maybe get away with COBs but with your height it will be tough. Strips are just like the COBs but they're strips so they're spread out.

You could also do this quantum board kit

https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/products/135w-led-board-kit

I would personally do the following (links inc)

5x Samsung LT562B strips

1x meanwell HLG-150H-24A

5x 24" pieces of 1" heatsink OR get 5x 24" pieces of 1" aluminum U channel from your hardware store

2-4x pieces of 24" L channel for frame

Thermal tape

5 slot wago connectors

Then all you need is a power cord and some 18 gauge solid core wire and some screws

Check my sig, i have a similar samsung led strip build for my 3x3 tent so you get an idea.

I haven't even gotten to the rest of the thread, still on page 2, but i had to pause . . .

Did you seriously, in 2018, pay $375 for a 330 watt blurple?

And not to descend into a blurps v blurps convo, but a Vipar 900 will smoke that thing at a buck and a quarter less money.
It's luckily not a blurple, but it has a similar efficiency of one lol. So it's just as bad. Not to mention the light he's talking about has a terrible design, it's like the spectrum kings. You want the diodes spread out, not all clustered together in a small area.

Admittedly didn't look closely at the light.

His reaction to people actually talking sense and explain things to him was priceless. lmao @ Cobkits patience with the guy.

Any LED is going to be recommended to keep at least 18-30" above your canopy so 3' isnt a lot of play room unless you plan on keeping them about 1.5' in height with training methods.

You can get much closer to your canopy with spread out light like from the samsung strips.

COBs need a fair bit of distance though. Even ran at 25-50 watts each.

This is what I’ve got going right now. I had 2 similar sized plants underneath this, but the one was male and I have since harvested the pollen. 3 weeks of veg, now it’s 2 weeks 4 days in flower as of this early morning.

There are also the Chinese boards from Alibaba.com that are pretty cheap. You can run them without a heatsink. There is a couple threads here that have the link to order them

You could go with a cheaper light for now and if you actually stick with growing and want to increase yields ect.. you could look in to getting a better light.

This thread is just confusing @Frank Nitty and setting a brother up for failure so I'm gonna drop this right here....
You have a very limited height you are working with and can not afford the distance to canopy that everyone finally figures out kinda works with cobs.
You want to set up and grow some plants I would assume and not go through a junior college level electronics course building things?

Pick up one of these T5's and grow some weed

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hydrofarm-Agrobrite-192W-2-Feet-8-Tube-Fluorescent-Fixture-with-Lamps-FLT28/351778435532?epid=1101860037&hash=item51e7a0f1cc:g:IJMAAOSwSv1Xj6WE:sc:ShippingMethodStandard!95531!US!-1

Should the LED T5 replacements ever make it to the point were they can be considered prime time for plant growth you can experiment with swapping them in.
Don't let anyone discourage you off of proven tech and the "energy savings" issue is a laughable one at best in the size space you are working with :peace:
