This thread is just confusing @Frank Nitty and setting a brother up for failure so I'm gonna drop this right here....
You have a very limited height you are working with and can not afford the distance to canopy that everyone finally figures out kinda works with cobs.
You want to set up and grow some plants I would assume and not go through a junior college level electronics course building things?

Pick up one of these T5's and grow some weed

Should the LED T5 replacements ever make it to the point were they can be considered prime time for plant growth you can experiment with swapping them in.
Don't let anyone discourage you off of proven tech and the "energy savings" issue is a laughable one at best in the size space you are working with

not a bad rec. they are cheap and will work well in that space.

T5 can get much closer to plants unless your talking larger Qb's dimmed Waaaay down = more $$

He can absolutely produce flowers under 6400K but ya, maybe put in some warmer spec bulbs when he moves to flower one he takes the training wheels off...

a single QB would need at least 12-18" to uniformly illuminate a 2x2

Mate your going to struggle to grow with any light bar cfl/t5 (because they can grow bonsai weed) in a 3ft high tent.
Please don't take that as me suggesting cfl lighting though.
2x2x3 tents are really only for cloning.
I would try for 5ft height or minimum 4ft.

You have to figure in your pot height, then some stem, then some canopy, then a gap to the lighting, then a gap above the lighting.. Filters? circulation fans? ect..

Don't jump in spending money until your sure your plan will work. Because there's nothing worse than trying to grow in a tight space and failing after spending your budget.

It isn't impossible to grow in 3ft but its not easy, if it can be avoided then it should be.

lots of diy options of cobs or boards or strips

if you want a plug and play light the timber i mentioned earlier, or theres that site that sells preassembled QB rigs (growerssupply or something like that)

PLC also an option but youre getting up there in wattage

I am a serious bucker of the law,and why should a plant that grows naturally be illegal to possess? Like Smokey said: God put this here for you and me...Take advantage, take advantage!!! Anyway,I've seen vids of people growing in sterilite tubs with CFLs and getting nice amounts of weed out of them... I started there but I didn't feel that it was big enough so I went a bit larger...it's really all of you guys fault!!!(lol)if I hadn't seen all of these awesome grows I would have been content with my little shit!!!Now I'm trying to run in the Olympics and I am still learning how to walk!!! But like I said before, you guys are what I'm striving to be!!!And I'm doing this knowing that I can go back to prison... growing weed is like an addiction,once you start you can never stop,and I'm hooked!!!

I'm going to look into those lights though... I need to figure something out quickly cause I have some autos coming up now...and I have a couple of bagseed plants as well...with the autos I know what I'm getting,the other two I'm not so sure... ones pretty big but showing no signs of being a female yet...if I lived in a different place I'd put them regs outdoors and let em do whatever just cause I don't want them to fuck up my autos...

You could start with a 120 watt driver, add two more strips as the grow progresses and money allows, then another two later. Meanwell drivers and Samsung strips are excellent lighting that will last for many years!

Digikey or arrow.com. Arrows search engine sucks so you need to search the exact part number. mouser.com or ebay are good for drivers.
