yeah I am all indoor atm as well, but if I could grow a tree or two ... dam...having that much raw material to work with... hash, shatter, dabs, edibles... so many possibilities. Not to mention then could make a TON of RSO for peeps I know in need. Will have to see what my clones/seedlings are looking like in a few weeks and see if I can find an easy close source of aged manure.... then see if I can get the balls to go outside and not freak out every time i hear a low flying plane lol

lol, while i was out planting, i suddenly heard a crop duster not too far away and it freaked me out, because of the way the dude flies. dives in over trees and power lines, sprays and climbs up hard before he crashes into more trees or power lines.

well the reving and roar of his motor made me dive for cove and drag my tools with me. under the bush until i realized what was going on. lol... thought for sure i was about to have an aircraft overhead with me digging by the creek

Throwing in my two cents here... all cow manure is not created equally and your location is going to effect the usability of the manure. If you live in an area with soil that has a high salt content the manure from free ranged cows is going to also have a high salt content.

Generally speaking well aged manure is going to have less salts but if you started with really high salts then using it pure may still not be a very productive option.

I learned this moving from NY where over manuring is virtually unheard of to southern Colorado where it's a legit concern.

I'd guess for most interested it is a completely viable option though and the proof is in the pudding.

Any place that has a low annual rainfall has more issues with this. We get a lot of rain every year so knowing it is aged at least 2 yrs. And then having the rain it washes it out.
However I know cali growers that just wash it out with water from hoses. If ever anyone has doubt you can get it tested.

I have a spare seedling so i tossed a handful of chicken compost on top as mulch. Seems to be doing fine. Pure cow manure should be ok as long as it is able to dry out. I find cow manure to be tacky and doesn't drain well. Maybe some perlite or straw mixed in?

so i went to fertilize my new outdoor plants tonight

life is gonna be a bitch outdoors here. planted sunday and tonight 2 plants are gone. the 2 mk-ultras. the first one is gone with roots and maybe manure too. pretty sure it was a hog, although i didn't see any tracks. just left a hole.

2nd plant was apparently chewed down to the ground. still didn't see tracks. could have been a deer or hog or rabbit.

i guess my homemade repellent only lasts as long as the drizzle we got. i ordered deer repellent and it will be here tomorrow.

with that said, the ghost train haze was looking just ok. the sour wreck is looking pretty healthy. she likes her new home.

also, i am not giving up. i will probably try to pop some auto seeds i have and put them out there.

Never dealt with hogs. I imagine they would be a nightmare.
Seems to me if they were there specifically to eat the MJ it would all be gone though. If they are like most animals they will take the path of least resistance unless they really want whatever's on the other side of that resistance. A net is really confusing to an animals senses and I'm of the opinion that it will spook most animals that walk into it.

only fertilizer there at the time was the manure and it was a good 4-6 inches under the surface. one plant completely dug up and other just topped, at the ground and eaten or carried away, lol...

plus i didn't get the garden tone or happy frog yet, tonight i just dipped water from the creek and mixed in megacrop.

btw, the creek ph is 7.8 with a TDS of 199

i've seen my buddy shoot a feral hog in the head 3 times and it stood up and tried to get away. not sure sharp sticks will bother them for a second. these are some of the toughest and damaging animals there are.

He used it in his beds and they were all rooted around. Some he was able to get to in time, others where too dead to save.

I try to get my holes dug, or re-amended at least a month before I put plants in them. That way all the varmints have a chance to check it out and decide there is no good stuff there.

it poured down rain last night about 3 am. just got off work. when it cools off, i am going to look at the remaining two. hopefully they are still there.

so i still have 2 plants out there after the very hard rain we got last night. the ghost train haze is making it, but not looking too happy.

the sour wreck on the other hand is enjoying life.

i sprayed both plants, the plants around them and the ground around them with liquid fence.

i am starting to have higher hopes for my sour wreck plant...

not to mention she's receiving excellent harsh treatment for testing her outdoor vigor and capabilities... sour wreck before now has only been grown indoors.

will get pics next time i go to water them. after last night's rain, i can wait til Sunday morning to visit. will give them another dose of megacrop since i still haven't bought my outdoor ferts.
