Nice, there is an annual rigatta of Hobie cats near me. It's meant to be fun but the competion is tough, smack talking, excuses and bragging are a standard.

I have a 1979 Meyers 12 ft flat bottom aluminum fishing boat with a 6 hp Evinrude motor. It's pretty sweet. I rate it a 8.5 on a scale of 10. I've caught a lot of catfish from that boat

Not a Hobie. It's called a Raptor 16 made by a company that isn't around anymore.

My boat doesn't have the sail area of a Cat or a jib and isn't as fast as a similar sized Cat. Then again, it's fast and being that close to the water feels even more so. The boat uses a foil to hold the boat down on starboard tack instead of shifting weight. It also only weighs 90 pounds.

I take it out for the fun of sailing but also fish from it and I dive from it.. Racing is what people do who don't know how to relax. That said, I've done some racing. The parties after the racing is done are the best.

I'm a yuppie. I own a 15' 1980 bass boat.

The old 85hp Evinrude is worth more than the boat, but I still fish out of her. And if I'm alone, I can still rip across Truman reservoir chasing after crappie at a cool 50mph.

I liked my boat (15ft fibreglass cuddy cabin- old as dirt with a 55, 2 stroke Yamaha) but I found that the old adage that a boat owner only smiles twice, once when they buy it and once when they sell it was pretty accurate.

Yeah. This is my salmon, striper, and sturgeon river jet sled that doubles as my trout trolling machine. Also have a big lake 5 min away with some landlocked kings. Absolulety killed it the other day in that boat.
