Just wanted to get some opinions on if this is worth the hassle. I wanna make a really good potent green dragon so I'm gonna set aside a bud from my weekly halfs, until I have a half of hopefully varying strains that I will then decarb and steep in a 500ml Absinthe (60% ALC here) for at least a month. Any thoughts on how that'll turn out :)

Nah Australia sucks I've been to at least 7 bottleos and your lucky to even find Absinth. Yeah it's my first time trying so I don't want to waste my buds. Getting ready to make cannabutter with trim and a scuddy plant I cut the other week
 
You're going to need more than a 1/2 oz. in 60%/500ml. Best I can get here is 76% and with 1.5 oz to 750ml I found it "ok", at 2 oz. it's good.

THAT seems like a lot for a 750 ml bottle I've seen recipes calling for one ounce over a LITRE of Everclear, though I don't doubt your personal experience. Could it have been weak stuff you used or have you made multi batches?

On my second batch, first batch was Ok with 1.5 oz but 2 oz. is much better from a strength perspective. I use straight up top shelf bud from a mix of about 10 strains, strength of the weed isn't an issue. I make coconut oil caps mainly for edibles, using sift from the same bud and those knock me on my ass at about 100mg.

I think the difference in strength is more the purity of the extract alcohol than anything. I can't get anything beyond 76% (152 proof) vodka here. That's why I suggested going a bit more bud, you were talking about using 60% alcohol. With Everclear you'd probably be fine to use 1.5 oz.

Ah ok fair point, I was under the impression lower proof just meant you had to steep it longdr
 
instead of bud, how about just decarbing a few grams of shatter, and then mixing that in with the alcohol? I dont even think you have to steep it long at that point,

Yeah that'd suck. I've got a quarter of sugar trim and a quarter of a plant that flowered in winter so it was all crystals and leaf fuck all bud, stewing in some butter atm if that turns out strong I might save up a half for a batch of butter every couple of months instead
