First grow outdoors New England

Woah, 10 weeks old now! Summer has been super hot and dry. Starting to trim leaves and tiny branches down near the pot. They either get munched by slugs, or start to turn yellow from lack of sun I think. Growth on both is moving away from symmetrical growth. Harder to see where to top. The one on the left is OG Kush, and LA Con on the right. Interesting that the kush is taller.D0BEBFB6-AF60-42FE-AE1A-E928D527E69A.jpeg

Week 11. Still growing strong. Two issues though. The OG Kush has a lower branch, about as big around as my finger. I trained it in the wrong spot, and cracked it, at the trunk of the plant. This happened weeks ago, and the branch died this week. Wondering what to do. Should I cut the branch off at the trunk? Leave it?
The other is is worms/caterpillars. Been showing up for 2 weeks. They are in these little tufts of cotton like stuff. Bought BT yesterday, and will treat this afternoon. Tiny worms, the size of rice in the cotton, but they are doing a number on leaves. No pics of either issue.E0D5F1CD-28E3-41F2-B488-45576EA3FB26.jpeg

Week 14. Flowers are rolling. Lots of yellow leaves down low, clipped them off. Lots and lots of pin holes in the leaves on them. The OG Kush is more affected. Seeing tiny black dots on back side of leaves. Should have been more proactive. Sprayed Capt Jacks this evening. Been a long ride, thinking 5-7 weeks more? Oh, and some of the small stems are turning red on the OG...C9983311-1779-4A68-AD2D-152BFDDE6F5D.jpeg 60A9CE96-28C1-43DA-8487-A2442F5E2844.jpeg

Week 15. I went out and bought a couple of 2x6x8’s, and ripped them into tall stakes. Put them around the plants, and ran string around to better support them. Trying to be proactive when the buds get heavy. They are tall! The stakes are 8’ pounded into the ground 6”.9F48666F-F44C-41C0-8C82-CD53D3644023.jpeg

You are doing an awesome job. Sorry you didn't end up with more ladies tho
Thanks! Looking back, I think that the way I handled starting the seeds might have had an impact on the male-female end result. I put all of the seeds in between two damp paper towels on a plate. The plate was placed on a heat mat, set to 75F. That was in the afternoon. I checked the seeds the next afternoon, and the paper towels were bone dry. I ended up putting the seeds into starter soil. I think the stress on the seeds might have pushed some to male.

I really don't believe in that. I do think that heat/cold and other stress factors will make the mother plant produce more fem or male seeds but I'm pretty sure the seed is gender decided once made.
If one could have that much influence over the sex of a seed I would have popped many many males over the years from all the fem seeds I buy. ;)

I homebrew, so I have a small RO unit, as my water is softened at the hose bib. Thinking that might be why leaves on bottom are showing signs of mineral deficit? Will have some CalMag tomorrow, and will add it to their water next go around. Dry little rain this summer, so I am watering every 3-4 days, 4 gal each, with nutes.

The OG on the left has been throwing yellow leaves pretty good now. I pulled more than a dozen off in four days. The LA Con is like the tortoise, just slowly progressing. It is mad thick. You part the branches and it is dense. D02EF6A6-8604-45CB-865B-46EFE28E83F1.jpeg
