Spotted Mackerel I caught about 20km out from Southport on a fishing charter. I caught the first fish of the day which was a king fish but slightly too small to keep AND the biggest fish of the day! I was getting some pretty filthy looks that day haha!! It was 102cm. Of course the dudes from the charter were telling me what to do and one of them had to finish it off for me and bring it in cos I was stuffed!!

That Daiwa rod looks good. Might be a later purchase though. I just dropped 8hundy on camp gear.

i would steer clear of baitcasters. the classic eggbeater is a better option

Triple strength choc brownies... super chewy 5 big tablespoons of coconut oil... your good for an hour then you have a have a terrible urge to sit down and eat heaps of munchies err 15 mins later I’m going to bed lol

Haha I left one of those combos on a boat in the Whitsundays, spewing. eggbeater style is probably better for an allrounder setup though

Egg beaters are a work horse, no argument. Bait casters are fantastic for lure fishing.

bait casters offer a little more finesse and accuracy, its only really an advantage if your on a boat casting at structures like trying to place lures between pilons or between branches on a submerged log etc. also they require more spool control on casts so beginners tend to get a lot more tangles.

if your standing on the bank casting out into open water there is no competition in my mind. spinning reel is the way to go and is just as good for lures etc anyway. most professional guys in the bream tournaments are all using spinning reels. you really dont see that many baitcasters being used because at the end of the day the spinning reel is just more versatile

Most the trout and salmon guys here use bait casters with braid. The accuracy and length of cast is stunning. But yea, they take awhile to get used to.

I'm looking at doing some any time of the year camping. I've just put down for a Darche 1550. And bought a -5°c sleeping bag. The bag itself is comfy as. Can't wait to try it out with the swag too!

Next thing to get -besides the license- is a decent fishing rod. Yet another thing to learn the good and bad of.

I don't need a fishing licence I have an indigenous card
