August they are still stretching big time. One pic was taken the end of July the other was taken yesterday View attachment 4191361View attachment 4191362the grass sure has gotten greener now that we got some substantial rain :)
That is amazing. Corn doesn't have anything on cannabis for explosive growth! You might have some viable lumber in those giant stalks. I'm a cutler by day and would love to try to turn a cannabis stalk into a knife handle.

Sweet! I make pipes for my friends as gifts.
I usually use Applewood for the bowl and sugar maple for the stem but this year I'm going to make it 100% from my plants20180719_094506.jpg

I've thought about that for next grow :)
I did both this year but have only been able to find ladybugs. The lacewings seem to have disappeared. My wife released them while I was gone so I never laid eyes on them. She said they were hatching in the container but no release info came with them so she googled and had at it.

I have put three containers of 1500 ladybugs out over the last 3-4 weeks and for the last week or so have had all stages. When I found eggs I had to google because I wasn't sure and they looked so unfriendly lol. Still, aphids are pretty thick on a few plants.

Since the babies have hatched I don't see aphids nearly as much. They are doing an amazing job! Yeah the eggs do look a little scary at first lol

got any info/how-to links for this process?
im not particularly handy with that sort of thing but im very interested in finding a use for my stalks. i hate just tossing them
The method I use is one of my own. It took a couple of prototypes before nailing it down.
I'm sure there is how to resources out there tho.
Sorry I'm not more of a help

Here is a tip tho...
How I make the stem and bowl to fit together Is like this.
The hole in the stem is tapered so so I just slide the two together and they stay and it is air tight if you do it right.View attachment 4191495View attachment 4191502
thanks
i like the two piece construction idea, definitely going to do that. do you do it all by hand, like whittling or do you use tools?
im also thinking about seeing if one of my glass blowing friends can coat the inside of the bowl with glass or something. ive got a few ideas brewing

The only time I use tools is for hole drilling....The rest is by hand and knife.
I burn the wood and rub it with olive oil to make it darker.
I like the glass idea....
