The most impressive thing so far is how even the tops are, especially for almost 3’ tall haze. All without any effort other than the initial tiedown of each main to spread the plant horizontally and a daily 180 rotation.

A great combo of the intense and even lighting (perfect for [2 plants per 48sams]x2 in a 4x4) and the scroglike canopy of a manifolded set of stems.

Once all those basal fan leaves are removed there should be a boatload of main and lateral tips within a few inches of the top.

Day 13:
Made 2 major adjustments today. Removed low leaves and laterals to redirect energy to tips near top and to open canopy. Changed lighton:lightsoff period to 12:12, while keeping 15 min far red immediately after lightsoff begins.

The dense canopy has been bothering me, so much energy going to waste on foilage that won’t ever amount to anything. Typically, as a big defol’r, i wouldn’t have thought twice about doing this, but this time, i was hoping to hold off until end of stretch, just in case defol might affect it. Today, i said fuck it, that shit’s coming off.

I’m also a little concerned with the slowness of pistil ball development. Every node/tip has multiple pistils, but usually by end of week 2 there are some nice balls of pistils developing along the mains. I believe the far red initiator is doing it’s job, but perhaps i was too aggressive in shifting all the benefit to longer lightson period too soon. So decided to shift the 1.5 extra hours back to lightsoff until pistil balls form.

Ppfd still 1050 at tallest tip on under each fixture, but reduced lightson takes dli down to ~45.

Everything else in range.

Day 14: Getting more and more apparent that there is some light infiltration somewhere. The plants look a lot like ones grown outside when day:night is 13:11 ish; multiple pistils on main/lateral tips but no serious pistil balls.

Been checking far red cuton each day (cutoff, too), no problem there. Have grow room lights off during tent lightsoff. There are various individual green and red leds in grow room that i never had to shield before, but perhaps are throwing beams to new tent.

Gonna have to shield the leds, and sleep in the tent, i guess.

Everything else in range.

Im just wondering but it looks like the leaves are closing in taco shape, are they maybe getting too much light? Just a thought im not an expert

Only ~ 1000 ppfd at highest tips, 800-900 on most (due to ht diffs), and they’re growing 1-2”/day, so not really showing negative effect.

If they are stressing, it’s more likely due to vapor pressure deficit higher than optimum, due to 82-83F and average rh closer to 58% than 68% (controller set at 68.5%, when it cycles rh drops to ~52%, humidity meter at canopy level shows 58%).

Grow is in a high powdery mildew location; so, to keep them at high photosynthesis rate, i’m willing to tradeoff humidity stress vs bumping humidity further and getting a pm infection.

Once they start flowering i don’t wanna use pm chems, i have uvc, but its a time consuming bitch (and dangerous shit) and i’m already spending 1-2 hrs/day on this grow.

As soon as stretch ends (likely another wk-10days) humidity requirement will drop into a lower/safer range. We’ll see if that does them better.

Damn dude you’re up against some shit. Good luck, though it sounds like you have a good course of action. Keep it up!

Just had a good read mate well done, that is some awesome ingenuitity, you will definately be rewarded for your time, Ive got 2 260w hlg diy kits, one v1 n one v2 and I’m happy as with the results... you have inspired me to add some supplemental lighting to my setup,

this is some pineapple chunk that’s drying and one that’s is finishing in a week or so... you have a great setupB8CA9CDA-CC66-4DB1-B0A0-09F3D075F268.jpeg

Hey mate passed out after I commented 7644D507-5CFF-4812-81A8-269C02D776F6.jpeg
I am running mostly between 20 and 23 degrees. When I start a new run I might try and get temps to 25 to help with stretch in the early weeks
I’m sure the lower temps definately bring out the colours, it’s a battle keeping the humidity up tho... so dry here by the end of the days it’s around 40% sometime 30%

If you look at the link i posted on aug 24, regarding Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD), it looks like @20-23C humidity can drop down to 40% in early flowering, and down to 30% in late flowering, before hitting danger zone. From looks of those colas, your temp and rh is doing them goodness.

I have just started to reference this VPD chart... I am going to try and follow it a lot closer in future grows

I’m not sure how well the exact values work for cannabis, particularly as you get closer to 30C, but by following it for a grow or two in the 20-23C range, you should get a good feel for how well it works at your ambient rh.
