Sorry guys but I will not be buying ChilLed OR RapidLed. In no way, shape, or form am I basing this decision on the quality or performance of this light...I'm sure this is great tech so don't let my personal experience ruin it for you! I'm making this decision because i'm still too new to this and I seem to have offended their customer service by asking the wrong questions haha. A youtube video about the assembly for the 300w DIY kit states that the frame, mounting bracket for the driver, and some other things will need to be bought via RapidLed. In their defense, I asked if I could get a discounted price for a large order...well, what "I" considered large/expensive. It was like 2am and I was super stoned.. its a stupid question that no body should ask, especially as a first time customer...so, don't be a dummy like me haha! The order consisted of the 300w DIY kit($525), 2x100w Logic Pucks(around $50 a piece), 2x140mm Pin Heatsinks, Driver for the 2xLogic Pucks(not sure of the pricing), Frame that will fit the 300w DIY and 2xLogic pucks($27), and 2xmounting brackets for both drivers. I was estimating the cost to be around $800-900. Either way, I know this was a mistake, but their customer service rep. sure did a good job of making me feel stupid haha. I don't want to put his name on here because 1) This could have been avoided had I not asked about price. 2) Maybe he was just having a bad day. 3) Maybe I actually seemed really retarded lol. But, if the kit doesn't have the required materials to actually hang the lights, is it so wrong of me to ask what additional parts I would need? What if I buy this kit and i'm required to solder some wires? Am I just SOL? I was told that it looks like I need to do more saving and come back when I've done more research haha. Despite asking a stupid question, I still feel kinda disrespected and belittled.

Haha this really sucks because I wanted to stay loyal with this company and rock their products throughout my grows. Does anyone know of other new high quality led companies? I will be basing my grows off their lights and products via youtube and forums. I'm not looking for sponsorship's or discounts or anything(well atleast from the LED companies), I just think I have a retarded version of OCD and would only like to stick with one company.. I've been like this with everything lol. I'm actually hoping that by using a newer tech. in grow LED's, this will help me build a viewer/fan base on Youtube. I know this is a very hard thing to do but i'm already in the process of buying everything I need haha(cameras, mic's, etc). I also think this would help in the marketing aspect of newer upcoming companies! Many people seemed to be interested in ChilLed's tech but are hesistant to buy because they haven't seen any results or yields. Could anyone out there steer me in the right direction to a new and upcoming high quality LED company?

DIY kits are generally sold on the basis that one you have enough of an idea of what needs to be done. Any good led company uses meanwell drivers however i would suggest you buy something pre-made from hlg, timber or something similar.

The DIY kits from other LED companies such as HLG and Timber seem pretty simple. Basically just a plug and play. I think these are great lights but I feel like there's not enough red/blue. The spectrum of ChilLed seemed amazing... I could also be wrong about all of this and the quantum boards could be the best overall choice?

Thank you for posting this. This is one of the videos that I had watched and was under the same impression that it was basically a simple plug and play(similar if not the same as other quantum board DIY's). I sent an email to their customer support, not because of the 300w kit assembly, but because I was interested in fitting the 100w Logic pucks between the boards. When I asked what additional materials I would need, I was told :
(2) Rapid led 140mm pin heatsinks
(2) ChilLED Logic pucks
(1) HLG-240H-C2100B to run 2 pucks in series at 100w each
-misc wire, pug etc, assorted "stuff" any diy builder has on hand.


If these are additional parts that are needed ... then what does the misc wires part mean? What stuff is he refering to?

Meanwell drivers come with 5 wires. (7 if you want to dim with a knob externally) 3 on one side are labeled positive, negative, and ground. This corresponds to the wires on a power cord. The cord packaging will tell you which color is for what. the two on the other side are positive, and negative. the + goes to the + side on a board, the - goes to the - on a board.
If you understood this, you can build a simple one board light. More boards involves either series or parallel hookups.
Series means you take the negative wire from one board and wire it to the positive of the next, eventually returning to the - on the driver.
Parallel means you make multiple connections from the positive wire on the driver to the boards, and corresponding connections on the negative side, board to driver.
If you understood this you can build a larger light.
Am I oversimplifying? Yes and no. Things can get complex depending on what you want to do, but if you read through build threads here, maybe pick someones light to copy for your first go of it, it's not hard to build the equivalent of an hlg 550.

Whatever you are inhaling is obviously way too strong for you if you walk away and buy something ordinary.
Best you send it all to me and I will dispose of it safely.
My tin has been empty for months and will be empty until xmas!!!

This light still seems great! Sounds like you should buy one bud!

I feel your getting too hung up on assorted stuff. It can range every builder does things different. He seemed as though he gave you good valid information.

Thanks for the help guys. I still feel like an idiot, not only towards LED's, but to growing in general haha. It's only been a little over a month since i've started growing so I have a lot to learn. It just gets confusing with all the different answers floating around on the web. So if I ever say anything or ask anything that offends someone, i'm sorry:P. My intentions aren't to offend anybody, i'm just genuinely curious haha.
