Those 870's are good guns. I have a couple three of them. One is a house gun, like yours. Short barrel, long magazine {but with a stock}.I added a laser sight to the 870 pump......

It'd be cool if it was a circle that matched the spread of shot at whatever distance.I would not want a lazer on a shotgun- that'd just fuck me all up
I needed the laser on the 870 because I have the shockwave short buttstock so there was no way to use the bead sight effectively. The laser at least gives me something to aim with from the hip...plus for home defense it would be difficult to use the bead sight in the dark.I would not want a lazer on a shotgun- that'd just fuck me all up
Have you practiced shooting your shotgun from the hip?I needed the laser on the 870 because I have the shockwave short buttstock so there was no way to use the bead sight effectively. only a few times but it will be a lot easier to hit what i'm aiming at with a laser...and the birdshead buttstock takes a lot of the recoil out...Have you practiced shooting your shotgun from the hip?
I think I'm old school - I had a Mossburg 500 (ATP) with a extended mag/pistol grip & didn't really like it for the accuracy factor - I shot a couple of doves from the hip with it but my accuracy is much better with a buttstock. If I need to shorten up I'll just use the hip carry when clearing corners.only a few times but it will be a lot easier to hit what i'm aiming at with a laser...and the birdshead buttstock takes a lot of the recoil out...
BTW, back in the 80's just fooling around I beat the Alaska state handicap Skeet champion two consecutive rounds.Hip shot doves?

Damn, I'm not worthy
I was the runner-up at the FFA turkey shoot in 1974, shooting a full-choke bolt-action Stevens 20ga. against a much older guy with a Browning superposed named Vern Baker who was one of the best shotgunners in the county- after I finally missed in the fifth round of the shootoff, he came over and said he really thought I would win, which was nice of him to sayBTW, back in the 80's just fooling around I beat the Alaska state handicap Skeet champion two consecutive rounds.
I was shooting my 870 & he was shooting a Perazzi.
He hit 23 & I managed 24 out of 25 in both rounds (15 singles & 10 doubles).
It didn't hurt my chances that I grew up shooting morning dove in S. Fla & those skeet don't shuck & jive like dove do.
And by "handicapped" I don't mean he shot from a stretcher or anything.
