How to Flush?

I live in a rural area of a rural state...flushing is not used in agriculture despite what your free maximum yield magazine that is just one advert after another says. Lets face it its not the best publication...
yes, Leaching is leaching...watering is watering (irrigating) and fertilizing is fertilizing.

But your more than welcome to pop down to a local bar and ask the farmers (who these days are extremely well educated with degree in agriculture unlike their parent's) how long they flush their crops for.....I'll even drive.

The stoner term flushing has three?? Meanings.. Which means its a confusing term to start with. See the post above urs and the one above that for proof of the third one. So why use it when horticulture already has terms for those 3 things?
Its time this old stoner word went away. You being a younger generation of grower who likes correct terms would of agreed with me I would of thought.
I think u took my post the wrong way mr luke... I wasn’t having a go. I was just saying that the word “flush” in a horticultural context is still very widely used in A LOT of literature!, so u can’t really blame people for still using it as it’s everywhere especially when talking growing cannabis. You taught me “leaching” and that’s the term I’ve used ever since, and the correct one.

I was only saying if you’re picky about terminology u should jump on every fucker describing the white (brown/orange etc) hairs on their buds as pistils. Because they are not.

That’s all dear, wasn’t having a go at you.

Just taper off your ppm the last week . People have a tendency to over fertilize as Nute makers suggest to high ppm . then want you to buy flush products to fix a problem they created.
Okay cheers, and yeah sounds like something some companies would do.
I’m using organic nutes and been sticking to their feeding “guide”. So far so good healthy plants etc.

Watch for the tips of your leaves they turn yellow if over fed . If your in soil water twice then start feeding at a lower ppm . If coco just lower ppm .

Some people I know, instead of flushing, put a 0/0/50 flowering nutrient to get the last little "boom" they can get out of the plant.
Hmm, interesting. They enjoy reduced THC counts? High K in late bloom,,,limits THC production.... Too bad for them!

Hmm....What literature? A book? That's what literature is you know. Much of that is fiction. Just count the rows in each section in a book store....

Speaking as a person in the farm industry, including years running greenhouse's. Please provide us with those piece's of "literature" so we may all bask in the glory of "flushing"....

Also, what are the dried pistils called other then dried pistils? Oh, of course, the dried stigma, and the style..... Gosh, when was the last time in about any Cannabis book. That they labeled/described the plants parts exactly "correct"........

Even the use of the word "pheno" and "Hermaphrodite" in cannabis is incorrect. It's just what people have come to understand... I think he's trying to actually define "flush" vs "leech"

BTW, the tone here is sarcastic, not meant to be insulting but, that can change..

At any rate... Flushing,,is a myth!

...merely an example I could be bothered to find at this hour.
And thirdly no he wasn’t trying to define the two terms, I was lol.

Oh and flushing before harvest is a myth!!;)

@Venus55 I've shared many literary sources which describe flushing ad nauseam, you waste your time. He's so tied up in his confirmation bias he cannot be bothered to read a book.

I still flush, how's that a myth for ya.. ama. :D

The point I was trying to make after that was - So we know it’s the wrong word, but too bad cos a shitload of people use it and we know what they mean so why not just roll with it and leave out the semantics. Cos that’s all it is.

Flushing is weed growing jargon, it's convention and has been and I'm over people getting their panties twisted because of a word. Go cry about it idgaf :D

Guess what.. growing weed has not been inclusive within the ag industry at least it hasn't been for the better majority of the 20th century.

Wow, thanks for actually taking the time to post pics of the books pages....I have those too.

BUT, What are they actually telling you? One might say that it's "leeching" excess "salts" ( I hate that term also ) from a media. This is, If nutrients are properly used. The media should not need any "what ever" being poured through it....Simply put. If you feed properly. You should never "need" to flush or leech anything from the media.

The only exception, would be Coco.....It stores or builds up compounds that should, periodically through out the grow, be "leeched" away...

Even decades ago. When all there was was Peters and Jacks type powdered nutrients. I never had a "build up" of "salts"....... I used what is required to grow our plant.... Today, just like yesterday. "more is good" is not correct!

The other point I would mention...

Pic #1 is assumptive BS. YOU (being the grower) can not flush or leech nutrient compounds from living plants.....SCIENCE!

#2 is likely by someone who really pushed the plants hard.....They no doubt finished early and had high P issues in mid to late bloom. Over feeding. The other side of that coin, is that they are referring to old school Coco. Even today, cheap Coco has "salt" build up in the media to start...... It needs to be leeched out....

#3 is Jorge and he is referring to the use of poor water and mineral salt build ups from that...... He also gives you a chemical method to remove them... YUCK! Simply get an RO system and start from 0 ppm.

Any idea that "flushing" removes nute's from a plant so it will smoke and burn better.....IS Bull Shit...

I have a new respect for you Ma'am (Painted nails in pictures). I posted rebuttal as information to all and not to antagonize you specifically.

If its the wrong word and means three different things then why use it? was the question.
In one context it means lowered feeding towards the end (sometimes with a "flushing" agent-..lol). In another it means just water towards the end. Both these for some magical Harry Potter stuff that removes chemicals from the flower. .Abracadabra. and the third is to leach salts from the medium.
How is that not confusing when someone starts a post that says " How to Flush"?

A shit load of people think Trumps a nice guy. Doesnt mean we should agree with them.
