@WeedFreak78, pentane is a pretty common laboratory extraction solvent, which usually leaves nothing behind.
That coupled with it's low boiling point make it a good choice for distillation in labs.
But outside a lab, I would be cautious about buying pentane, because it's pretty obvious what you will be using it for (especially if it is shipped to a residential address) and unless you have a solvent extraction license for your area, I wouldn't take the chance to draw any more attention then need be...
It is much easier to get an alcohol distillation license to make ethanol "fuel" and then use what you distill for your extracts.
This way if someone rats you out and the fuzz shows up, you have a license and they will have to go away (eventually)...
If the fuzz does show up and you have an unregistered "still" or parts of a still, pentane, and no license, they are going to set up camp at your house and stick around until they can find as much to use against you as possible...
The coil alone on the still can be used to nail you with a felony.
However if you have a simple distillation setup using lab glass, this sort of falls into a gray area legally.
They may confiscate it, but you won't see jail time.
If you have a license to make fuel and you register your glass, there is nothing they can do to you, unless they can manufacture something...
So, I wouldn't risk using something that to a cop looks like a hooch still, when for less money you can get a simple distillation setup, register it, sign up for a license and put yourself in a position to be guarded in case they come knocking...
