Fellow growers..any ideas/tips on choosing a harvest time without checking trichs as i have tool too at the moment and by the time i get one i fear i may have missed my window to flush. still very green at moment though no fade but havn't cut nutes yet i am first time grower not sure if this causes the fade or not , purps coming thru so i figiure thats some sign of maturing the strain is grandaddy purp. 80% if not more of the pistols are amber if that helps
Ok, lets go over this a bit.
#1: Flushing is a myth.....don't! You might drop the nutes to zero with about a week to go. IF your in a solid media. .There is enough left in the media to carry you out.
...Hydro? Just run them out. PROPER CURING is the key to smoothness! Hundreds of years of tobacco work has basically, perfected curing!
#2: I agree with the scoping guys. They look well bulked and the calyx's are swollen nice. "I" might go a tad farther by sight but, I have not run those strains. That makes a world of difference - knowledge!
#3: You over did the N. Dark green leaves- The bad part? They are shiny dark green. That inhibits THC concentrations by limiting trich production.
#4: Color increase. This is a plant response to the drop in temps during late bloom in nature. You can increase coloring by decreasing night time temps.. If you can, dropping to 60 F at night does wonders for this... Hard to do in warm climates and the summer up north.
Increasing K can help BUT, too much increased K, lowers THC production.
I just have to comment on this one-
If you are unsure wait to a point when you're ready to cut them down and then feed them water only for another week.
Flushing is practiced by many many thousands of seasoned growers with combined thousands of years of actual field experience.
If you like feeding to the end, nobody will stop you.
And those who actually have schooling in the growing sciences....DO NOT!
Where did this "Flushing" idea come from?
Well, it most likely came from a logic thought..
Back in the day, even the old school Columbian's and
high end Mexican weeds were cured by the old school out door hanging methods - in sheds with an open wall were one's I saw went touring both countries in the late 70's and early 80's....These tasted great.
I can just see a cpl of old hippies, sitting on a log. Smoking some just dried in 6 days shit they grew. 1 says to the other, "Man, that's harsh and tastes bad,. What can we do to fix that?"
The other looks over and thinks a bit....Then says, "Yup, pretty harsh and bad taste. I wonder if it's the fertilizer in the plant we give it to grow? Maybe if we stop feeding it with 2 weeks to go it will get better."
First one says, "Yup, good idea. Lets do that!"
They had no idea what the science of the plant, or any flowering plant was back then, No idea about the bulking stage and just how important that is.
Now it's just a money grab by those who make "flushing agents" to "flush" the nasty shit from your plant"
Sorry, you can not "flush" nutrient ions from a plant. They don't work that way.
Fading, doesn't either! The plant simply takes from one area and moves it right to where your trying to remove it from! It's trying in a last ditch effort,,,,to reproduce before it dies from lack of nutrition!
Magazines (generally full of BS anyway) can't tell the truth! If they did, advertisers would bail on them in droves! You see, magazines make their money by advertising!! NOT by selling the mag's.
You got questions, ask away..
