Ever notice... (bag seeds) soil to Hydro

Sometimes a seed germinated then planted in soil, sprouts, starts to struggle with vertical growth and node separation. Then You place that same plant in a hydro setup and it takes off... Leaves begin to expand. Growth becomes much more apparent.

I usually have no problem starting any plant in soil but I run into difficult bag seed phenos here and there. I love the challenge of making that hard to grow plant vivacious. It usually ends up being super dank in the end too because I put so much effort into making it successful.

Hope that inspires some of you to give those bag seeds a try. I usually ask for them from friends as I dont have seeds in my grows... I have gotten some super dank plants from some friends who would have otherwise tossed the seeds or let them sit around on their coffee tables.

Bag seeds can surprise ya. And its no work at all in my eyes. Chemdawg was a bag seed and look at the rep it has today. That was rumored to be the weed that inspired the chronic album. Hell one of the strongest strains I ever grew was a bag seed. Just send all your bag seeds to me I guess haha

some of the best dope plants i have ever gotten is bag seeds and i love a bag seed its like xmas u never no what u are gunna get anyways with the right care even a shit plant will come out super

I remember when I first started smoking, it went from seed to no seed... even though the herbs did get better... once it got better..hell I wanted seeds. Buy some really good smoke and these days can’t find a seed in the bag. I know all about the better green containing no seeds... Sensi and all. Before all this order your seeds... some good smoke came from those regular bag seeds.

I think a lot of younger folk think bag seed is bad because it likely comes from hermed plants.

But us old guys grew up buying weed loaded with seeds because back them thats just how it came. Mostly outdoor where nobody bothered to pull males.

So "bag seed" has never been bad to me. Its natural...

Thing is about 30 percent of his plants hermied and shot bananas due to the fact thats how they got there. His whole 10kW room was ruined with seeds. He tried selling seeds and ppl bitched because his beans ended up making bananas. lol So FWIW I won't mess with bag seeds.

I'm growing some bagseeds that came from some mids, not Schwag( I guess in some places, call mids Schwag). Doing in for experimental reasons and because its my first grow. I have some Mephisto seeds I want to plant. I want to get familiar with some plants before I do anything else

Its not professional to do a commercial grow with an unknown. Hell even if it was from a reputable breeder its still unsafe until you grow it out. I would only commercial grow with an already finished plant with great results using clones of that same plant and keeping mothers. Nanners can poke out in practically anything. I don't believe all seeds come from Hermes tho. Some plants just happened to get pollinated by males somewhere, it still happens sometimes I think haha.

Ironic thing is strains Like Gorilla glue comes from a hermed plant. Gorilla glue is literally from nanners on a female. Finding a gem can be in many places. Its a shame to think how many killer plants never even had a chance.

I am not saying great plant's wont come from bag seeds.
Why would I want to run my home grow any less professionally than professional?
Look at it from a newb perspective. If you are dropping 1000+ on a setup, you want to get return from it. I am just saying good genetics are a wise decision in that regard. As a rookie myself, hints from others that grew similar strains were invaluable. The first plants I ever grew, I found week by week pictures from someone who had grown the exact strain. I mean how easy can that get? Answering your own questions.
Not to be a smartass, but what are you all smoking on that has seeds? LOL. J/K I found ONE single seed so far in my harvest. I think a few is normal with fems.

I did the above and I killed everything on the first run because I was a noob I didn't know what the f*** I was doing. So then a friend gave me some old bag seed that was literally 25 years old and I grew 4 plants out under a 1000 watt hid. I yielded 4 ounces on that first grow.... not because the genetics was shit but simply because I still didn't know what I was really doing.

It took me two more grows to really get going. So... expecting a noob to get a return on a first run? Not likely, not for most...

So.... I see what you're saying, but.... I'm not sure it's the wisest thing. Because after those first couple grows I learned two things: it would have been better to start out cheaper while learning and... that I needed to make changes in my environment, which meant buying different equipment.

It wasn't until the early 80s that indoor sensimillia started showing up around here. $240 an ounce.

My first grow turned out great, and I don't think it was luck. I attribute a lot of that to the hardiness of the strain I selected. I took into consideration that Afghani can deal with heat and less than perfect RH. So I chose it, knowing it would help negate those issues. You can't do that with a bag seed, for the most part.
When someone does something they should learn professionally to begin with, IMO. For instance, when I go finish my wife's timing belt in a few minutes, I am going to torque every bolt to spec with a torque wrench. I am going to follow every step in the service manual. Its the professional way to do things. Same goes for growing, or whatever.

But i will say bag seed from plants grown with feminized seeds are a different story...

I think we have a disconnect here. My idea of professional growing is one thing... and yours may be another.

I agree that if you're going to start growing then you shouldnt bother unless you're going to do your absolute best effort. I believe that should be the case with anything - if it isn't worth doing right then it isn't worth doing it all.

But as for a hobbiest grower doing everything at the level of a professional grower... I have to disagree. That makes no sense.

I see, but you are not a professional. You are an amateur imitating a professional's setups and techniques. You are a hobbyist. You should want to run your setup like a hobbyist, that's why. Variety and unknowns are much more worth while than the borg style of growing you are imitating. I have pollen from males personally collected from various strains bag seeds and unknowns. I can create and name my own strain if I please. You have someone else's work and are told what to do. Do you believe they gave you their best work? Do you have your own style or techniques? I am a hobbyist, and I do.

But to answer your question, I have come across some great flavors that have had seeds. GSC was notorious for having seeds early on. Sometimes you get an ounce and it has one seed. I ask friends to give them to me. Does not mean we smoke bad weed. I am a new age seed hunter haha
