Ive been meaning to step up my game and get soldering, do you have any advice or resources on how to learn? Im specially interested in some advice regarding what soldering equipemeq to use, something good enough that doesnt cost hundreds and is available worldwide and not only stateside.
I'm sure there are videos on ytube, maybe I'll see can find a good one. Temperature controlled soldering stations are nice, but certainly not needed. I always grab the cheap 30 watt "pencil" irons at garage sales and thrift stores, last one was $3. Some have a 15/30 watt switch, I set it to 15w for standby, reducing tip corrosion. I have a Weller soldering gun for the big stuff and a 7.5w pencil for tiny electronics.

This part is important, you want an iron large enough to get it done quickly. You don't want that iron on there a couple minutes trying to melt the solder, slowly heat soaking everything. Insulation starts melting on the wire, the copper foil traces lift off the PCB, etc. etc.

Keep the tip tinned to prevent corrosion. Wipe the tip on a wet sponge to clean and re-tin.
Use only rosin core solder, acid core is for plumbing and mechanical work. I usually use 1/32" or .75mm diameter. I've always used tin/lead solder, lead free has a higher melting temp.

Had a quick look online......
60w and adjustable,

420 cheers bro thanks for the detailed reply really! I have been trying to put together the most efficient pieces & with so many options I doubt I came across the most efficient led to this date lol I will check out led tech for theirs! & So basically if I was trying to make a fixture wall to wall with ppfd at 8-900 & 12"-18" away from canopy I can buy 30 strips from led tech & 2 drivers at 185H-20A & this will do for 4x4 5x5? To produce 1.5/ 2g pw max
With automatics yes, 2x HLG-185 would be already enough for a 4x 4' area. For regular strains 2 HLG-240's are recommended(up to 560w). For a 5x 5' area and automatics you could use 2 HLG-240's too and for regular plants I would use 2 HLG-320's which can go as high as 680w. You would still use 30 strips(15 per driver) but would run them harder at 23ish watts or ~1200mA.

You can simply order them and they will sent them to you, brother! You would even save 19% VAT but you have to pay dhl shipping(~45-50$) and maybe some import taxes depending to your local laws. Its germany, not russia or transelvania, lol! Takes a few day with dhl. If you visit the shop I believe there is a chat window. But have a look at the local time, bro!

The good thing with this strips is, they have a 7s14p layout and each parallel section is cutable. You could just break a strip in half and you would have two 25cm strips with 1,4A max current. This offers much more flexibility for growers with 3x 3' areas. You could also make them longer by adding a half strip. You need only to solder them end to end together in parallel.(++/--) same voltage but 4,2A max current.
You could even break off only one section and you would have 7 LM301b's on a 36mm small module, max. current 200mA or 4,2w and each section has its own solder joints.

With an intelligent circuit layout almost every form is possible. You could even make a really powerful 360° bulb out of these strips using an hexagonal aluminum tube covered with lots of this 36mm sections.

I've two of them here in front of me and they are pretty small. Above 15w they need for sure heat sinks but f..k, man! 58,8watts max. out of such a small strip is incredible. Thats +9000lm!!! There is a chart where you can see the exact number for several drive currents from 350-2800mA.

@Randomblame are they closer to 20 or 24V?

Wait Nvm.
18-21v. These are the answer to my problem I've had with 3ft heatsinks to out strips on. I could easily fit 7, 20v strips on the 143 available on the driver right on the 6" wide heatsink that's dual fan cooled. Reuse the 240-1750's and retire the 3590's to the other heatsinks ive got. I'd be close to the same lumens output, but way better spread.
Any way at all to get in US?

Just wanted to update for anyone who reads this. I received my order from Mufue on Alibaba today, and the 96 diode strips are legit lm561c. They came sealed in the Samsung packaging and everything. I dealt with Tenny Tang from Mufue and he was excellent and my order including shipping was $385.00 for 50pcs. So like $7.50 a strip, can hit 2 amps max at 24v. Here is a link to an example from the Mufue store on there. Only downside is it took about 3 weeks to arrive to U.S.

Just gotta figure out best way to use them. They do not need heatsinks at around 30w. One could even have them on the sidewalls also. The Mean Well LRS-350-24 is a decent solution, it is $35 for 350W and has adjustable voltage from 21v to 28v. My plan was to build 2x4 fixtures, each with 350W, 12 strips each. I was using 2 600w hps in a 4x4, this should obliterate that.

You plan on building a few 12 strip fixtures then? Why'd Ya get 50?

I am trying to fill 4x8 with 48 strips 1400w. Maybe more wattage, but I am new to samsung diodes.....Vero29s run at only 50w were being too much in veg somehow at 16". Maybe it's just a picky strain, or I'm still used to hps. 1400w would be 43w/sqft in 4x8.

I'd like to fill with strips above and on 3 of the walls/sides but it would just be ridiculous

Ya you've got me thinking hard on a new build now with the LRS idea..
