Do you completely dissolve your epsom salt separately before adding it to other nutrients?

The technical term you may have been looking for is 'flocculation', where nutrients in solution at too high a concentration react with one another to create a different material, one which isn't so water soluble.

The biggest one to look out for in hydroponics is the reaction between salts containing sulfur, like magnesium sulfate, aka epsom salt, and salts containing calcium like calcium nitrate. The calcium and sulfur combine to make calcium sulfate, also known as gypsum- a material that's something like 97% water INsoluble.

It's easy to do in hydroponics because epsom salt takes a bit to properly dissolve and yet the damn crystals are all but invisible before they do. I recommend people use hot water and extra time to dissolve epsom salt into before adding it to other nutrients or the reservoir.

I'll give it a go next res change. That flocculation only start to appear after a day or two. When I prepare fresh batch of nutes its perfectly clear but brown coloured water.

Is the water brown? If so that's entirely different.

If you get a sandy colored residue on the bottom of your tank that you can stir up but always settles, that's calcium sulfate.

I mean water after I mix it with the nutes. My tap water isn't brown

Fresh mix is well diluted and clear brownish colour (from dry nutrients), but after two days goes hazy/milky (still brownish colour) with floating particlesparticles when I stir it.

Where are those particle before you stir?

Hard to tell man looking through 30cm of brownish water in a black container. It could be that. Texture is something completely else. A bit slick but much less so than algae. Very light and easy to disrupt in a water, so it start to float.
Will mix one batch in a 5L clear plastic water bottle so it might be easier to see.

In the meanwhile I'll drop GreenLeafNutrients a line about it. Not that I'm much worried tho, but I would like to know what's causing it.

I've prepared the one small batch, same as I have in big res.

Tap water EC 0.15
after 1.33g epsom EC 0.39
after MC + Epsom EC 1.48

Will see how it looks after few days.

If all else fails, I'm sure you can use that for a pee test lol
What exactly being the objective?

Sir,
you should have a seat for this. You are pregnant, have the lowest cholesterol levels we have ever seen, may have kidney failure, What the hell do you eat or otherwise sustain yourself on? We believe you are not human. Please follow the gentlemen in the suits and sunglasses.

I'll be carrying that bottle with me everywhere from now on , just in case :bigjoint:.
Guys from GLN emailed me back

"I can't really tell from the pictures what it is, but you should stir the nutrients before you use them, since they can settle a bit if not used for a while. Stirring will help them be more even, I'm sure whatever it is, its not really an issue that would cause anything negative with the plants! "

Well, I knew that already :P

Interesting approach mate, I like it, looks green and helthy, plus nice harvest weight you got on the first run...
Thank You.

I took some clones today, 2x from all the plants. Hopefully one will survive. All very small as I didn't have any bigger branches :/ ehhh they'll have to do. They got a bit of rooting gel and went straight into jiffy pellets. Now sitting under the fully closed dome thats sitting on the hitting matt.
I cleaned ladies a bit in the big tent a bumped feeds to 2x a day whila I was at it. Will flip in a day or two

Numbers are in from the last round.
It came total 1126g. ~200g of which was low quality and the rest was medium quality with few nicer small tight buds. I dont believe I got all N.Lights seeds , unless someone can tell me they saw a lemon/grapefruit pheno in NL before. Really strong flavour. Some with strawberry flavour and others with that petrol funk. High wise all over the shop, from cauch locking smoke to creative , hazy and energetic. All cut down at the same stage of maturation (few ambers showing) but one plant kept going for next 3weeks !

NEVER AGAIN !

Only good thing is I have big variety of weed do smoke :bigjoint:

:peace:

Not sure what that dark brown is. Gypsum is tan/white.

Maybe it's something that isn't exactly a nutrient salt? Do you run humic/fulvic acid maybe?
