I don't use a greenhouse to lengthen my season. It's just to keep rain off my plants in the fall and prevent bud rot. I tried enclosing my greenhouse but learned really fast that if you don't have amazing air extraction your humidity shoots through the roof. So I just leave my ends open for the whole year and use the greenhouse solely to protect from rain. It does also help when it gets windy too which is a bonus and stops random bird shit from hitting the plants.

My only other option is to blackout but that will be a real pain and don’t know if I can afford those tarps. My strains supposedly flower mid sept and a couple that say early October so if I can’t keep my plants going through at least first week of November I think ima be in trouble! I’ll just have to play it as she goes I guess
I've been growing in Michigan since I was 12 with relatives. I'm 47 now and the strains we grow must have perfectly adapted to the cold early fall because they don't stall until they've been frosted. You obviously never grew in the northern hemisphere huh.lol your wrong bud
Most folks throwing shade do it in the afternoon, then remove the tarps after good dark. That lets the plants dry out quicker with the morning sun.
July 30th, 2014 i think i started covering 2nd week of june. Twas only a 10x10 gh though. Used cheap black 6 mil plastic sheeting custom cut and gorilla taped for my needs. Fit right on too.
Not wrong, just telling you what it's like growing where I am. I'm in BC, Canada a couple hundred km's from the border. I'm glad you have magical strains the defy the laws of nature. I'm sure everybody would love to have some of those beans. The rest of us are stuck growing plants that unfortunately are majorly affected by our climate. Perhaps your climate is better suited to pot plants?
I was thinking of throwing the tarps over them around 7 or 8pm. Sun doesn't go down until 10-10:30pm or so.
I grow 8 week flowering plants every year that aren't ready to harvest until the end of October. That makes the flowering time about 12-14 weeks depending on when they start flowering that particular year. There's no such thing as a 7 or 8 week flower here until you harvest early.

Most strains would be safe after 10 1/2 hours of dark. But you would need to know your strain, and what it's flower/veg trigger point is to be worry free,

u might want to run lights for longer day till 6-21 then turn off light.might trigger quicker ?been wanting to try it outdoor myself.
My tarp will only cover 90% of the top. Both ends will be open. I know it won't be like blacking the garden out but it will seriously darken the area. Yeah I learned my lesson about enclosing my greenhouse totally.
I thought of that too. If I could keep my plants indoors until the end of June I could literally just run the lights 18 or 20 hours a day until they go outside. I just don't want to run plants indoors until the end of June, gets too hot and I'd need to run A/C just to keep them going.
