.. was just curious to hear if anyone here has tried any of these treats for the pets as 4th of july is quickly approaching, and sandy pants absolutely freaks out over the fireworks.. was talking to a lady at work, and she said she uses cbd treats to help with her dog, but she's a bit of an odd ball and don't really trust her opinion to say the least, so here i am, to ask you fine people..

I've heard only good things about CBD for dogs. It seems to be an excellent anti-inflammatory and anticonvulsant. I've heard of two cases in which this was a very useful doggie drug. 2 ml of a 0.5% solution (10mg dose) once daily does for a 10-15lb dog.

So I think dog CBD is legit, but I don't know about its anxiolytic effect.

If you try it and it does work, compounding your own oil (1 g CBD from a reliable source like CBDistillery, in 250 ml of a mild vegetable oil ... it all dissolves but it takes a day) is way cheaper than using formulated chews or other ready-dose preparations.

thanks for the info canabineer.. i was checking out some of the pre-packaged cbd dog treats i found via my googles, and they were priced about $1 per treat, $9 per box of 10, which i thought was a bit steep... i'll have to check out your sources and look into making something for her and see if it helps any.. she's an amazing dog, super intelligent like some bear i know, but she's got a big anxiety issue, like i said in the op, she freaks over fire works, and was hoping to find something that would help her with independence day fast approaching..
the vet gave her some anti anxiety meds to give to her before going in for her tplo surgery, but they are too much, they floor her and i don't like giving them to her..

Alprazolam is the med prescribed by her vet, but as i said, even at lower doses, half a pill, i feel it's too strong for her, and it takes her a few days after to fully recover.. she'll usually sleep almost the entire day after that dosage, and i don't like giving it to her and am looking for an alternative..

CBD isn't really good for this. It's for inflammation. Alprazolam is probably your best option on 7/4. For me I just realize I'm going to be up all night as my dogs are mortared by the neighbors. We stay up, watch loud TV and eat popcorn. They get the shits and live under the bed for the night. Nothing you can really do.

I give my dog a daily dose of cannabutter for joint pain and inflammation. Because it's a daily dose, he's built a tolerance to the high. I would not recommend it on an episodic basis for anxiety or anything else.

My (ex)vet wanted me to get my dog hooked on fucking tr@m@dol and after fighting with my dog to take the pills for a few days, I gave in and started this routine. It works wonders to keep him comfortable and active at almost 15 years old.

Wow
They gave the dog Xanax you have to be shitting me

They refuse to give it to people who legitimately suffer through severe panic disorder but they’ll give it to a dog

Anyways

I’ve done some very light reading for cbd and anxiety (specifically not giving info on other stuff ) and there’s been a lot of back and forth regarding if it works for anxiety issues or not
Some sites heavily claim its a cure all for anxiety others say it may help Some say it’ll make it worse

Careful with the Xanax tho , I’m not sure how it works in animals but in humans you gotta slow taper off that if you take it daily

And yes Xanax knocks you out
It’s a sedative it stops you from panicking

how many milligrams of xanax are they giving the poor puppy ? i would cut what you gave him in half or quarters for anxiety. Nothing was strong enough for my baby girl though ...she'd eat 1 mg of xanax ans still stay by my side till it was over. i think your lucky the xanax is working at all. its not going to hurt the dog , its just going to get him high for a couple days. smaller dose would prolly lower the amount of high time.

they only gave it to her for when she had surgery, well, for her like 3 visits to the vet she was advised to take it like an hour before her visit because she freaked out so badly.. only gave it to her once post tpol surgery and won't give it to her again, it's too hard on her..

only gave her the doggy xanax once after her surgery and vet vistis sunni.. i think i tried it two independence days ago, but like i said, it puts her on her ass too much, and i don't like giving it to her as it turns her into a zombie, so yeah, she's just had one single dose post surgery..

thanks ctg, i didn't really think it would help much, that's why i asked here, i knew that ding dong lady from work is cray cray, lol..
it's just so hard on her, it makes me sad to see her in such a state, but wrapping her in a blanket and hugging her seems to have the best effect..
