It is white balances but it is also less pink. Looks close to "Warm White"
Honestly I had to do a double take when I first turned it on - I was like, Really?? HydroGrowLed put white diodes in there?? Then on close inspection you see what the individual chips are.

Random thought.
The appearnce relates to how our eyes perceive red. In human health and safety red is weigheted less than blue. It certainly is counter intuitive that by removing a blue diode, the light looks more blue, but replacing the ir diode with red is the blue shift.

lol. Worked good, but was no different than a HID as far as efficiency. It was better than HID though in that it evenly distributed the light. 3500k 17w 1600lm x as many as you want to use.

Day 31 Update:
I pulled 4 plants to make a bit more space as things are wall to wall.
The butter crunch had a few issues and I didn't care for the quality so I tossed that one. The three Grand Rapids were proper trimmed and sorted for quality as pictured.

The butter crunch had a few issues and I didn't care for the quality so I tossed that one. The three Grand Rapids were proper trimmed and sorted for quality as pictured.

It may be a light issue but I am thinking more indirectly. More so because the texture issues I see and you mention the over crowding, that looks like the leaf is suffering from an edema of some sort (I dont know the proprr botanical term but it can result in an african violet if water sits on the leaf). Is condensation ever an issue? Is the light creating a weakend leaf essentially?

I notice that even thoigh these have been hit by hail, suffered hopefully the last frost less than a week ago, and hit by greater peak intinsity (natural light) than what I had to protect them from indoors, thea are healthier.

The edges arent burning and purpling has stopped on the butrercrunch.

Day 33 Update.
Butter crunch are looking less than desirable but the Grand Rapids look pretty good.




Day 3 for the 5%-10%-85% batch
They got a little stretched. Probably cause I left the dome over them a bit too long with family here visiting this weekend but I'll let them roll and see how they shape up over the next couple days




Still biologically feeling on the fence with led's in general. My little Abby girl always loves to bath under grow lights but makes this face when led's are in play

I'm not sure on the leaf issue. It seemed to be isolated.
Possibly residual damage from too much light intensity early on?

I am just interested in how to grow lettuce indoors ,not the type , will not be doing so till fall likely along with mixed bag of vegetables.
So rockwool and wondering what nutes and EC, PH etc along with humidity and temp best to grow lettuce.
Can do same is soil?

If your a soil grower just toss some seeds in and let it roll assuming your mix had a bit of a nutrient charge.

Day 38 and I am going to go ahead and chop these tomorrow. A few issues on some and some look beautiful. Gonna make The Big salad for sure!

So today is like day 39ish and I harvested.
Quite a bit of nice lettuce. Again I didn't like the looks of the butter crunch so shit canned them. I am pretty picky on my greens.



Shot of the full breakdown all manicured up and also the head I would consider the prize winner of the bunch and a single random leaf for scale. We aren't growing bonsai's here!
